Butterfly larvae reduce host plant survival in vicinity of alternative host species

Oecologia, 1986
Mortality of an annual plant. Collinsia torreyi, was increased in the vicinity of Pedicularis semibarbata plants. This was a consequence of feeding by Euphydryas editha, a herbivore which feeds on both plant species. Mortality of C. torreyi was better predicted by distance from P. semibarbata than by density of C. torreyi.

Tacrolimus: An Alternative for Graft-Versus-Host Disease Prevention

Annals of Pharmacotherapy, 2000

Avocardo, an alternate host for Oncobasidium theobromae.

Australasian Plant Pathology, 1989
Avocado seedlings on Kar Kar Island (Papua New Guinea) were found to be infected with Oncobasidium theobromae, a fungus that has previously been found only on cocoa. The growth habit of the fungus in avocado was very similar to that in cocoa, although there was a difference in the leaf symptoms induced. While the presence of O.

Alternative Synthetic Biology Bacterial Host Development

Herein is described efforts towards developing an alternative bacterial host (synthetic biology chassis) based on Burkholderia sp. FERM BP-3421. As described in Chapter 2, genomic, epigenomic, and metabolomic data sets were used to guide the discovery of a novel nonribosomal peptide from Burkholderia sp. FERM BP-3421.
