Modulating Two‐Photon Absorption in a Pyrene‐Based MOF Series: An In‐Depth Investigation of Structure–Property Relationships

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.

RIS-Aided Integrated Sensing and Communication Systems: STAR-RIS Versus Passive RIS?

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society
A shortage of frequencies exists due to the demand of extensive connectivity and limited availability of spectrum. Thus a prominent solution of sharing spectrum between radar and communication systems has been proposed.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Enhanced AC/DC optimal power flow via nested distributed optimization for AC/VSC-MTDC hybrid power systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The deployment of voltage source converters (VSC) to facilitate flexible interconnections between the AC grid, renewable energy system (RES) and Multi-terminal DC (MTDC) grid is on the rise. However, significant challenges exist in exploiting coordinated

Double Helical Plasmonic Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic double helical antennas funnel circularly polarized light to the nanoscale, offering strong chiroptical interaction and directional light emission. Extending a single helix design tool, this study combines numerical modeling with experimental validation, revealing large, broadband dissymmetry factors in the visible range.

The temperature uniformity within U-style silicon located in a novel 80-rod siemens reactor with a high silicon core

open access: yesResults in Engineering
The previous studies focus on simplified reactor configurations with 12 or 24 pairs of rods and do not account for the complex thermal and electrical behaviors and multi-ring interaction present in a large-scale reactor.

Warranty Cost Analysis with an Alternating Geometric Process

open access: yes, 2018
In this study we model the warranty claims process and evaluate the warranty servicing costs under non-renewing and renewing free repair warranties. We assume that the repair time for rectifying the claims is non-zero and the repair cost is a function of

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Efficient Methods for Automated Multi-Issue Negotiation: Negotiating over a Two-Part Tariff

open access: yes, 2006
In this article, we consider the novel approach of a seller and customer negotiating bilaterally about a two-part tariff, using autonomous software agents.

Patterning the Void: Combining L‐Systems with Archimedean Tessellations as a Perspective for Tissue Engineering Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel multi‐scale scaffold design using L‐fractals arranged in Archimedean tessellations for tissue regeneration. Despite similar porosity, tiles display vastly different tensile responses (1–100 MPa) and deformation modes. In vitro experiments with hMSCs show geometry‐dependent growth and activity. Over 55 000 tile combinations
