Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Colour reverse learning and animal personalities: the advantage of behavioural diversity assessed with agent-based simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Foraging bees use colour cues to help identify rewarding from unrewarding flowers, but as conditions change, bees may require behavioural flexibility to reverse their learnt preferences.

Lived and Care Experiences of Chronic Musculoskeletal Shoulder Pain in Australian Adults: A Qualitative Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Australian evidence on lived and care experiences of chronic musculoskeletal shoulder pain (CMSP), irrespective of disorder classification or disease, is limited. However, such evidence is important for person‐centered care and informing local service pathways and care guidelines or standards.

Precompensation and System Parameters Estimation for Low-Cost Nonlinear Tera-Hertz Transmitters in the Presence of I/Q Imbalance

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Tera-Hertz (THz) transmission can offer several attractive applications, yet developing low-cost energy-efficient THz devices is at an early stage. The most promising low-cost THz transmitter architecture in the literature is the so-called frequency ...

Equilibrium selection in alternating-offers bargaining models : the evolutionary computing approach

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Evolutionary Modeling and Economic Dynamics, 2002
This paper studies the dynamic and equilibrium-selecting behavior of a multi-agent system consisting of adaptive bargaining agents. We model an adaptive agent as a collection of strategies which is optimized by an evolutionary algorithm (EA). EAs are stochastic search methods based upon the principles of natural genetic systems.

Prevalence, Determinants, and Outcomes of Low Disease Activity and Remission Attainment in Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus That Is Clinically Active

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to identify in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with clinically active disease the attainment of frequency and determinants of Lupus Low Disease Activity State (LLDAS) and Definition of Remission in SLE (DORIS) and the frequency and determinants of flare and damage accrual after target attainment.

Strategic Delay in Bargaining with Two-Sided Uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes
The role of strategic delay is analyzed in an infinite-horizon alternating-offer model of bargaining. A buyer and seller are engaged in the trade of a single object.

On the Impact Energy Absorption of an Advanced High‐Strength Bilayer Steel Composite Consisting of Carbide‐Free Bainitic Steel and High‐Mn Twinning‐Induced Plasticity Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Excellent combinations of strength and impact toughness are obtained in a bilayer composite of high‐strength carbide‐free bainitic (CFB) steel and high‐ductility twinning‐induced plasticity (TWIP) steel. The composite absorbs energy at small strains when the notch is placed on the TWIP side and at high strains when the notch is placed on the CFB side ...
