Alternators of a right alternative algebra [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1978
We show that in any right alternative algebra, the additive span of the alternators is nearly an ideal. We give an easy test to use to determine if a given set of additional identities will imply that the span of the alternators is an ideal. We apply our technique to the class of right alternative algebras satisfying the condition (

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

A alternativa como categoria em Lukács: a captura das mediações humano-genéricas The alternative category in Lukács: the capture of human generic mediations

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

Costs of syringe vending machines in Tbilisi, Georgia

open access: yesHarm Reduction Journal, 2023
Background Syringe vending machines (SVM) can improve access to sterile injecting equipment, but they have not been widely implemented or evaluated. We evaluate the cost of SVM installed between July 2019–December 2020 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

A modification of the newtonian dynamics as a possible alternative to the hidden mass hypothesis

open access: yes, 1983
The author considers the possibility that there is not, in fact, much hidden mass in galaxies and galaxy systems. If a certain modified version of the Newtonian dynamics is used to describe the motion of bodies in a gravitational field (of a galaxy, say),

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

The intracellular domain of TLR2 is capable of high‐affinity Zn binding: possible outcomes for the receptor activation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Toll‐like receptors (TLRs) are important in the innate immune system. This study explores the zinc‐binding ability of the TLR2 TIR domain (TLR2TIR). We found that TLR2TIR binds zinc with nanomolar affinity through its cysteine residues. Two of them, C673 and C713, are vital for receptor activation, indicating that zinc may play a role in initiating ...

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...
