Alternatieve voedergewassen = Alternative fodder crops

open access: yes, 2003
Gras en mais zijn niet te verslaan, maar denkt u erover om een alternatief voedergewas te telen dan kan triticale voor u een interessant gewas zijn. Triticale is goed in te passen bij graslandvernieuwing en in vruchtwisseling met snijmaos.

The Application of Robust Regression to a Production Function Comparison – the Example of Swiss Corn [PDF]

open access: yes
The adequate representation of crop response functions is crucial for agri-environmental modeling and analysis. So far, the evaluation of such functions focused on the comparison of different functional forms.

Analysis of Treacher Collins syndrome 4‐associated mutations in Schizosaccharomyces pombe

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Fission yeast models carrying Treacher Collins syndrome type 4‐associated mutations reveal that impaired processivity of RNA polymerase I leads to defective rRNA transcription. This study highlights the essential role of a conserved arginine residue in Pol I elongation and provides mechanistic insight into the pathogenesis of ribosomopathies.

Rice Production and Nitrogen Use Efficiency by Diverse Forms of Fertilization in Rice-Based Crop Rotation Systems

open access: yesAgronomy
The rising demand for climate change mitigation has brought attention to agricultural systems focused on carbon farming and reducing emissions. Composting food wastes and livestock manure not only mitigates environmental concerns but also boosts soil ...

Modeling Heteroskedasticity of Crop Yield Distributions: Implications for Normality [PDF]

open access: yes
The paper analyzes the extent to which ignorance of heteroskedasticity or its inadequate modeling would result in misleading statistical inferences about crop yield distribution.

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

ATP13A2 is involved in intracellular polyamine transport in lung epithelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Spermidine transport in lung epithelial cells involves the polyamine transporter ATP13A2. Cell proliferation is associated with the upregulation of ATP13A2. Polyamines are present in all living cells and are implicated in various crucial cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis and autophagy.

Effects of replacing rye silage with mixed rye-vetch-straw silage on feed intake, milk production, digestion processes, and blood metabolites in dairy cows

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Mixed silage of whole catch crops—crops grown between 2 main crops—and straw might be an alternative forage source for dairy cattle in times of forage shortage but is still understudied. This research sought to evaluate the effects of feeding mixed rye-

Metformin promotes mitochondrial integrity through AMPK‐signaling in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Metformin mediates mitochondrial quality control in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) fibroblasts carrying mtDNA mutations. At therapeutic levels, metformin activates AMPK signaling to restore mitochondrial dynamics by promoting fusion and restraining fission, while preserving mitochondrial mass, enhancing autophagy/mitophagy and biogenesis ...
