An Alternative Sugar Fuels AML [PDF]
Although altered glucose metabolism is a well-studied feature of malignant cells, little is known about the direct metabolism of fructose. In this issue of Cancer Cell, Chen et al. report that AML cells consume fructose and use it to maintain viability, especially when glucose is scarce.

Role of Intrinsic Electron Trapping in Negative Charging of Amorphous Alumina
Intrinsic electron trapping in amorphous Al2O3 is examined using hybrid‐DFT models spanning a wide density range. Both spontaneous and thermally activated trapping are identified, with pronounced spontaneous localization in dense, partly crystallized structures.

Algae Fuels as an Alternative to Petroleum [PDF]
Here we examine the scale of petroleum consumption and the current lack of scalable petroleum alternatives. We highlight the contribution that macroalgae and microalgae can collectively make as feedstocks in the future energy mix, discuss recent advancements and current development pathways, and consider the potential and the limitations of these ...

Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Magnetic‐field‐assisted CVD of heterometallic single‐source precursors modulates thin‐film surface electronic structure and interfacial charge transfer. Field‐grown (Cobalt ferrite‐1T)CF‐1T films exhibit stabilized electronic states, lower kinetic barriers, and markedly enhanced nitrate‐to‐ammonia electrocatalysis versus (Cobalt ferrite‐0T) CF‐0T ...
