Consequences of an alternative emission metric

Nature Food, 2021
GWP* is an alternative emission metric that better represents the short-lived character of methane, but its application is not straightforward and can have a substantial impact on the design of mitigation policies in agriculture.

Metric properties of alternative fidelities

Quantum Information and Computation, 2022
On the space of mixed quantum states, several alternative fidelities have been proposed besides the standard Uhlmann-Jozsa fidelity. It has been known that several properties of the Uhlmann-Jozsa fidelity still hold true for these alternative fidelities. The aim of this paper is to give positive answers to some questions about the metric properties of

The NPS and the ACSI: A Critique and An Alternative metric

International Journal of Market Research, 2011
The Net Promoter Score (NPS) and the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) are metrics used to predict sales, profit and share price change. We identify problems with the design of both the NPS and the ACSI. In particular, we find that the NPS does not measure negative word of mouth effectively, and we argue that the ACSI is similarly ...

Alternative Connectivity Metric for Routing in VANETs

2019
In vehicular ad-hoc networks a path has to be found to send a message from one vehicle to another vehicle. This path has to have a connectivity rate that is high enough to obtain a high probability of arrival of the message. In other approaches, the average distance between vehicles on a link of the network is used as metric for connectivity.

Alternative evaluation metrics for risk adjustment methods

Health Economics, 2018
AbstractRisk adjustment is instituted to counter risk selection by accurately equating payments with expected expenditures. Traditional risk‐adjustment methods are designed to estimate accurate payments at the group level. However, this generates residual risks at the individual level, especially for high‐expenditure individuals, thereby inducing ...

Alternative Security Metrics

2011 Eighth International Conference on Information Technology: New Generations, 2011
Today's security metrics support management practices rather than measure system capability to withstand attacks. This eliminates consideration of security features that are not currently used to manage systems as the basis for security metrics. Rather than judge security metrics by a utility standard with respect to current security management ...

Non-metric statistical analyses: Some metric alternatives

Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference, 1986
Two classes of permutation techniques for completely randomized and randomized block designs are considered in this expository paper. The analysis space of these techniques corresponds to the data space in question for only a small subset of these classes (the congruence principle is satisfied when this correspondence holds).

An Alternative Derivation of the Distribution of the Individual Bioequivalence Metric

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2003
A method is proposed for estimating the probability density function (PDF) of the individual bioequivalence metric. We show that under the usual assumption of independence of the various random variables, the computations are quite feasible. A program to evaluate the integrals needed for the computations has been written.
