Opportunities with alternative refrigerants

ITherm 2002. Eighth Intersociety Conference on Thermal and Thermomechanical Phenomena in Electronic Systems (Cat. No.02CH37258), 2003
Due to environmental concerns, a new generation of refrigerants has been introduced. The new fluids perform well, but because of their remaining global warming potential they are still under scrutiny internationally and may be eliminated in the future.

Comparison of Various Alternative Refrigerants for Vapour Compression Refrigeration Systems

ASME/JSME 2011 8th Thermal Engineering Joint Conference, 2011
Single-stage vapour compression refrigeration system was compared with an actual vapour compression cycle, single-stage process with internal heat exchanger, and a two-stage process with economiser using the refrigerants of HCFC-22, CFC-502 and their alternatives such as HFC-134a, HFC-32, HFC-152a, HFC-404A, HFC-407C, HFC-507, HFC-410A.

Dielectric properties of alternative refrigerants

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2006
This paper gives an overview of our research, from experimental measurements of the relative permittivity on new and alternative refrigerants, to theoretical interpretation of the data and density functional and density functional self-consistent reaction field calculations for a series of HFC molecules.

Alternative Refrigerant Research Program

1998
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is often called upon to contribute specialized research or technical advice to initiatives of national importance. The U.S. response to the international environmental problem of ozone depletion required such a contribution.

Refrigerated Railroad Car Design for Shipping Frozen Meat Using Alternative Refrigerants

Volume 1C, Symposia: Fundamental Issues and Perspectives in Fluid Mechanics; Industrial and Environmental Applications of Fluid Mechanics; Issues and Perspectives in Automotive Flows; Gas-Solid Flows: Dedicated to the Memory of Professor Clayton T. Crowe; Numerical Methods for Multiphase Flow; Transport Phenomena in Energy Conversion From Clean and Sustainable Resources; Transport Phenomena in Materials Processing and Manufacturing Processes, 2014
Refrigerated railroad cars, known as reefers, are railroad rolling stock designed to carry perishable freight at specific temperatures. They are insulated boxcars that keep the cargo at a regulated temperature. As soon as railroad cars had the capability to keep a load cold, the potential growth of the meat, dairy, fruit and brewery industries became ...

The Comparative Analysis of Alternative Refrigerants on Ship Refrigeration Systems

2023

Evaluation of alternative refrigerant—adsorbent pairs for refrigeration cycles

Applied Thermal Engineering, 1996
Abstract The refrigerant-adsorbent pairs at present preferred for solid-sorption refrigeration cycles are ammonia-carbon, methanol-carbon, ammonia salts and water-zeolite. Porosity tests have been carried out on a range of alternatives, including R32 and butane, as refrigerants and new monolithic carbon adsorbents.

Viability of the Proposed Alternative Refrigerants as Future Refrigerants

Macromolecular Symposia
AbstractGlobally, the need of future refrigerant is becoming important to save the environment owing to the increase of urbanization and industrialization. The rate of accumulation of greenhouse gasses (GHG) from refrigerants depends on the rate of increase in urbanization and industrialization.

Triple point measurements for alternative refrigerants

Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2011
Triple point data are important in the refrigerating industry, defining the lowest temperature limit at which a refrigerant may circulate in a fluid state. For several refrigerants, triple point data present in the literature are extremely scarce or inaccurate.

Analysis of Refrigerants Properties and Alternative

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
With the question of Ozone Depression Potential and Global Warming Potential popping out day by day, the Freon refrigerant alternative has become one of the current research contents of refrigerant. Based on the given Freon refrigerant R22, R134a and natural refrigerant CO2, the differences of their properties were compared, and the relevant ...
