Fluorine‐Free Soft Nanocomposites for High‐Speed Liquid Impact Repellence

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fluorine‐free soft nanocomposite coatings are developed using silicone oil‐mediated mechanical‐stiffness control, enabling ‘dry’ liquid‐repellent surfaces that resist high‐speed water jet impacts up to ∼60 m/s. By tuning nanoparticle loading and oil content, the coatings also achieve >90% optical transparency, amphiphobicity with impact resistance to ...

New synergy analysis of alternative refrigerants used in refrigerating transport [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Low-Carbon Technologies, 2008
In this paper, the authors present a new expression of the vaporisation heat in the case of the isobar-isothermal processes, the identification of the components of the vaporisation heat and the correct description of the phenomena, which are happening at the critical state. s‐Orbital Mediated Metavalent Bonding Enables State‐Of‐The‐Art n‐Type AgBiSe2 Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metavalent bonding (MVB) underpins the exceptional property portfolio of chalcogenides. Typical MVB solids are mainly found in p‐bonded systems. This work reveals that MVB can also be formed with s‐p orbital interactions upon forming a single‐electron σ‐bond, as exemplified in AgBiSe2.

Development of a dynamic model for ice-on-coil external melt storage systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Ice storage systems are commonly used to balance the intermittency of renewable energy and decrease the peak load by switching to off-peak hours. An adequate model is necessary to predict the behaviour of these systems.

Aqueous Two‐Phase Bioinks for Discrete Packing and Compartmentalization of 3D Bioprinted Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aqueous two‐phase systems (ATPS) enable the formation of biomimetic interfaces crucial for tissue engineering. However, clinical translation remains limited by the challenge of precisely controlling cellular compartmentalization. Here, we developed ATPS biomaterial inks for 3D bioprinting allowing tuneable droplet formation via NaCl modulation.
