Exercise and altitude [PDF]

open access: yesPostgraduate Medical Journal, 1979
Summary In studies concerned with the performance at high altitude it is often not possible to separate the effects which are due to hypoxia from those associated with the stress of ascent. Some of the basic observations concerning exercise at high altitude are reviewed and a study is described which was designed to simulate the physical

On the Circular Altitude of Graphs [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Iranian Mathematical Society, 2020
Peter Cameron introduced the concept of the circular altitude of graphs; a parameter which was shown by Bamberg et al. that provides a lower bound on the circular chromatic number. In this note, we investigate this parameter and show that the circular altitude of a graph is equal to the maximum of circular altitudes of its blocks.

Machine Learning‐Based Estimation of Reference Evapotranspiration and Crop Coefficients for Wheat Under Diverse Climatic Conditions

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accurate estimation of reference evapotranspiration (ET0) and crop coefficients (Kc) is critical for irrigation planning, particularly in data‐limited regions where agriculture dominates freshwater consumption. Although machine learning (ML) methods have been widely applied to ET0 and Kc estimation, most studies address these parameters ...

Altitude illness

open access: yesBMJ, 2003
Summary points: Altitude related illness is rare at altitudes below 2500 metres but is common in travellers to 3500 metres or more. The occurrence is increased by a rapid gain in altitude and reduced by a slow ascent, allowing time for acclimatisation. For most travellers, altitude related illness is an unpleasant but self limiting and benign syndrome,
