Solid–Liquid Flow Analysis of Francis‐99 Turbine Runner: Effects of Sediment Concentration
ABSTRACT This study examines the behavior of solid–liquid two‐phase flow within the runner of the Francis‐99 turbine. Numerical simulations were carried out by Ansys Fluent software using the Mixture multiphase flow model along with the Realizable k‐ε turbulence model to analyze the solid–liquid two‐phase flow in the turbine runner.

ABSTRACT Irrigation water supply is under scrutiny because of dwindling water resources. Most irrigation water in South Africa (SA) is transmitted by canals. Transmission water loss (TWL) accounts for 12% of the irrigation water losses in SA. Therefore, there is a need to investigate and understand the major parameters influencing TWL at Vaalharts ...

Abstract Boreal lakes are generally seen as sources of carbon dioxide (CO2) to the atmosphere, even though a part of them are periodically undersaturated with CO2 and have the potential to be net‐autotrophic. This undersaturation is the result of photosynthetic activity by phytoplankton, especially flagellated species like Gonyostomum semen, which form

Resolving the environmental factors that determine pond thermal refuge quality
Abstract Cold thermal refuges may mitigate detrimental effects of future climate warming; yet, pond ecosystems have been largely omitted from thermal refuge research despite being globally numerous and providing critical ecosystem services. We create a formal definition for pond thermal refuge quality, then operationalize this definition by measuring ...
