High-mountain altitudinal gradient influences thermal ecology of the Mesquite Lizard (Sceloporus grammicus)

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 2019
The thermal requirements of ectotherms may vary among species due to adaptation to different thermal environments. Nevertheless, some of these requirements are evolutionarily conserved, leading organisms to compensate behaviorally for harsh environmental

Beta diversity of aquatic invertebrates increases along an altitudinal gradient in a Neotropical mountain

Biotropica, 2019
Mountains harbor rich biodiversity and high levels of endemism, particularly due to changes in environmental conditions over short spatial distances, which affects species distribution and composition.

Amino acid dynamics across a grassland altitudinal gradient

Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 2014
Amino acids (AAs) have been the focus of an increasing amount of research in relation to nitrogen fluxes in soils. We use five temperate grassland sites across an altitudinal gradient to establish relationships between soil properties and the size of individual AA pools and their mineralisation rate.

[Heat transfer, convection and altitudinal gradient].

Archivos de biologia y medicina experimentales, 1996
Measurements of heat loss from fur covered aluminium cylinders were made under barometric pressures ranging from 760 to 368 torr (sea level up to 5.8 km, simulated altitudes). Heat transfer diminished at high altitudes and a relative greater diminution was observed when forced convection was applied.

Phenology Patterns Across a Rupestrian Grassland Altitudinal Gradient

2016
Phenology is the study of recurrent biological events in the life cycle of organisms. For plants, reproductive events such as flowering and fruiting are critical stages in their life cycles, which also greatly affect other organisms depending on these resources.

Altitudinal Gradients in Mycorrhizal Symbioses

2017
Mountains, due to their often steep gradients in abiotic and biotic factors, offer an ideal setting to improve our understanding of mechanisms that underlie species distribution and community assembly. The current knowledge on the effects of elevation on richness and community composition is almost entirely based on vascular plants and animals, where ...

Altitudinal gradients fail to predict fungal symbiont responses to warming

Ecology, 2019
AbstractClimate change is shifting altitudinal species ranges, with potential to disrupt species interactions. Altitudinal gradient studies and warming experiments can both increase understanding of climate effects on species interactions, but few studies have used both together to improve predictions.

How altitudinal gradient affects the diversity and composition of benthic insects in arid areas streams of northern East Algeria?

Biologia, 2019
This study was carried out to evaluate the variation of diversity and composition of benthic insects in streams, along an altitudinal gradient in an arid area of Belezma National Park, Northern East of Algeria.
