Altitudinal differentiation of vegetation on the western macroslope of the Ikatskii Range (Eastern Pribaikalia)

Geography and Natural Resources, 2011
An ecologo-phytocenotic classification of forest types has been worked out for the mountainous areas of the Western Transbaikalia. Using the floristic and ecologo-geographical criteria and the DCA ordination method, we identified seven groups of forest types belonging to two altitudinal-belt complexes.

Germination characteristics of Gymnocalycium monvillei (Cactaceae) along its entire altitudinal range

Botany, 2017
Germination characteristics are important for understanding how species cope with environmental variation. The aims of this work were to analyze the effect of different temperatures (25 and 32 °C), water potentials (0, −0.2, −0.4, and −0.6 MPa), and light conditions (light vs.

Colonist Ability, Altitudinal Range and Origins of the Flora of Mt Field, Tasmania

Journal of Biogeography, 1981
The seedplant flora growing above 1000 m on Mt Field was studied. Greater colonist ability, and larger and lower altitudinal ranges, were found to a significant degree in alien than in native species; in species belonging to genera growing also in the northern hemisphere than in more restricted genera; and in more widespread species than in Tasmanian ...

Altitudinal Distribution and Ranging Patterns of Pygmy Tarsiers (Tarsius pumilus)

2013
Pygmy tarsiers (Tarsius pumilus) of central Sulawesi, Indonesia are the only species of tarsier known to live exclusively at high altitudes. This paper examines how the ranging patterns and altitudinal distribution of high-altitude pygmy tarsiers compare to those of lowland Sulawesian tarsier species, within an elevational gradient in Lore Lindu ...

Ecophysiological studies on the shrub Vaccinium myrtillus L. taken from a wide altitudinal range

Oecologia, 1986
Observations have been made on the gas exchange and morphology of Vaccinium myrtillus taken from altitudes of 200 m, 610 m and 1,100 m along an altitudinal gradient in central Scotland. Under saturating irradiance, optimum temperatures and a range of vapour pressure deficits, photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance increased with the altitude of ...

Altitudinal shifts in forest birds in a Mediterranean mountain range: causes and conservation prospects

Bird Conservation International, 2019
SummaryMediterranean mountains are biodiversity hotspots where northern species occur surrounded by drier and warmer lowlands. In this context, global warming is pushing these species to higher elevations. This paper assesses whether forest birds have experienced a shift upwards over the elevation gradient in the last 35 years in the Guadarrama ...
