Nanostructured Ti–6Al–4V Reduces Adhesion of Several Bacterial Species: An In Vitro Study
Small Science, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2026.Alkaline etching transforms Ti–6Al–4V into nanostructured, highly hydrophilic surfaces with thicker oxide layers and selective alloy depletion. These physicochemical changes reduce early bacterial adhesion across multiple species by limiting effective nanoscale contact points, while osteoblast‐like cells retain good attachment and spreading.

Chemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 6, June 2026.Twenty‐one compounds, including six dolabellanes diterpenes and one germacrene sesquiterpene that are new natural products, are reported from the brown algae Dictyota fasciola and Dictyota mediterranea collected from the Aegean Sea. Among them, some exhibit considerable antiviral activity against RNA (HCoV‐NL63, ZIKV) and DNA (HSV‐1) viruses.
