Alumina-on-Alumina in THA [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Orthopaedics & Related Research, 2008
Different bearing surfaces, including alumina-on-alumina, have been used to avoid osteolysis. We prospectively followed 288 patients (319 hips) in which an alumina-on-alumina cup was used with a hydroxyapatite stem. The patients' mean age was 52.7 (range, 14-70 years), and the minimum followup was 3 years (mean, 4.7 years; range, 3-8 years).

Influence of powder characteristics on the sintering behaviour of reactive alumina powders [PDF]

open access: yesProcessing and Application of Ceramics, 2022
Fine reactive alumina powders have a significant impact on the properties of refractories at high temperatures. Except for the hydration of cement and in situ reactions, the performance of castables is also correlated with the sintering of reactive ...

Effect of sintering atmosphere on the pore-structure stability of cerium-doped nanostructured alumina [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Pore-structure stability of pure and Ce-doped alumina in air and argon atmospheres was studied using DTA, TGA, N2 ads./des. and XRD with a view to understand the importance of the ionic size of the dopant cation on the pore-structure stability of alumina.
