MXene-reinforced alumina ceramic composites
Ceramics International, 2017Abstract Ti3C2Tx, a typical MXene, was incorporated into alumina (Al2O3) to obtain ceramic composites and its effects on their microstructures and mechanical properties were investigated. The investigation results showed that MXene was well-dispersed in the ceramic matrix and significantly reinforced alumina. At 2 wt% Ti3C2Tx, the fracture toughness,

Nanosecond-millisecond combined pulse laser drilling of alumina ceramic.
Optics Letters, 2020A nanosecond-millisecond combined pulse laser (CPL) drilling method was proposed for drilling alumina ceramic. The total energy consumption of the CPL drilling was 1/7 of that of a conventional millisecond laser, and the drilling quality was better.

Alumina by virtue of its various desirable properties finds various applications. It is widely used as refractory, as a base for substrates and radomes and other specialized applications. It is used as an abrasive, in cutting tools, and the usefulness of this material as grinding and polishing powders is well established.

Hydraulic Alumina Binder for Extrusion of Alumina Ceramics
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2007The present work describes the effect of hydraulic alumina (HA) as a new inorganic binder on extrusion of alumina ceramics. The addition of a small amount of HA imparted significant flowability and rigidity to the extruded alumina.

Wear of alumina ceramics prosthesis
Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery, 1999To investigate the process of wear in the total knee prosthesis consisting of alumina ceramics (Al-ceramics) and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWP) in vivo, we observed the fine structures of the articular surface of the prostheses used for four patients with osteosarcoma of the distal femur.

Glass and Ceramics, 2000
The possibility of producing strong porous ceramics based on aluminum oxide is shown. SiC with an activating additive and ammonium bicarbonate are used as a binder and a pore agent, respectively. The effect of the amount of the additives thus introduced and firing temperature on the porosity and strength of the material is studied.
