Premetallizing of high alumina ceramics

Ceramurgia International, 1978
Abstract Premetallizing with a MoMnSiO2 mixture was studied on corundum single crystal and sintered alumina surfaces. The oxide phase formed after heat treating is described with the aid of scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and microprobe analysis.

Hydrothermal Corrosion of Alumina Ceramics

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1997
The corrosion behavior and strength degradation of alumina ceramics with 99%, 99.9%, and 99.99% Al 2 O 3 were studied in water at 300°C and 8.6 MPa for 1 to 10 d. The weight loss in alumina ceramics was mainly attributed to the dissolution of SiO

Characterization of Metallized Alumina Ceramics

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2011
The metallization of alumina ceramics (92 pct purity) was performed by the molybdenum-manganese (Mo−Mn) process in moist hydrogen and nitrogen atmosphere in the temperature range of 1523 K to 1673 K (1250 °C to 1400 °C) for 10 minutes with a dew point of 293 K (20 °C).

Hydroxyapatite Ceramic Hip Survey Alumina on Alumina Bearings

Key Engineering Materials, 2005
To reduce osteolysis and loosening, alumina bearings in hip arthroplasty have been used in Sunderland since 1991. This consecutive series demonstrates the results which have been most rewarding. However, ceramic implant fractures have been encountered but these probably represent less than meticulous operative technique.

Alumina ceramics for stomatologic purposes

Mechanics of Composite Materials, 1999
An alumoxide ceramic implant doped with magnesium oxide is developed and its structure and physicochemical and mechanical properties are examined. Medicobiologic investigations of the implant are also carried out. The implant Alumag-1 is recommended for clinical testing.

On Alumina Powders for Ceramics

2016
The Yokohama Works of Showa Denko, which suspended production of smelter grade alumina in 1985, is now one of the few plants in the world specializing in the production of non-metallurgical grade aluminas.
