A Reliability Study of Phased Array Ultrasonic Inspections Applied to Aluminothermic Welds in Rails [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Nowadays, long welded railway rails are achieved by means of aluminothermic and flush-butt welding processes. Compared to bolted joints, welds proved to be effective in terms of reduced wheel damage, ride comfort and maintenance.

Application possibility of arc welding processes for long butt joint of 75Mn steel plates without preheating

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
An arc welding process for long butt joint of high carbon −75Mn steel plates without preheating was selected, assuring quality of weld and productivity. Abstract In order to ensure the stability of the track mechanical device, this paper solves the problem of attaching the lock flange to the side of the rail.

Noble‐Metal‐Free Modified TiO2 Nanotube Arrays (TNTAs) for Efficient Photocatalytic Reduction of CO2 to CO Under Visible Light

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 9, Issue 44, November 25, 2024.
Three noble‐metal‐free materials of graphitic carbon nitrides, metal–organic framework, and reduced graphene oxide were used for modifying pure TiO2 nanotube arrays (TNTAs). The modified TNTAs were tested for photocatalytic CO2 reduction to CO. TNTAs modified with graphitic carbon nitrides displayed the highest results.

Solar Cells on Multicrystalline Silicon Thin Films Converted from Low‐Cost Soda‐Lime Glass

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 11, Issue 28, October 4, 2024.
Multicrystalline silicon thin films from synthesized low‐cost soda‐lime glass (SLG) using aluminothermic reduction at 600 – 650 °C show moderate p‐type doping of ≈1 × 1017 cm−3. Heterojunction solar cells exhibit an open‐circuit voltage of 426 mV, a short‐circuit current density of 7.29 mA cm−2, a fill factor of 52.3%, and a conversion efficiency of 1 ...
