The Preparation of Ferroboron and Ferrovanadium by Aluminothermic Reduction

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 1996
The processes for the production of ferroboron and ferrovanadium from indigenous resources by open aluminothermic reduction have been described. The influence of process parameters such as charge composition, particle size, and the use of fluxes on the yield and composition of the ferroalloys obtained are discussed.

Continuous Hot‐Dip Galvanizing of Medium‐Manganese Third‐Generation Advanced High‐Strength Steels

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 94, Issue 11, November 2023., 2023
Herein, the effects of process atmosphere pO2 on the reactive wetting of two medium‐Mn third‐generation advanced high‐strength steels during continuous hot‐dip galvanizing are interrogated. The substrates are austenitized, flash‐pickled, intercritically annealed, and galvanized in a conventional 0.2 wt% Al (dissolved) bath.

Recovery of lead from by-products of the bismuth refining by metallothermic reduction treatments

open access: yesZaštita Materijala, 2015
In the refinement process of bismuth by chlorinating of Bi-Pb alloy (Kroll-Betterton process) as a by-product lead chloride is formed. This study was focused on the lead valorization from PbCl 2 by aluminothermic and zincothermic reduction. Besides lead,

Thermal process for magnesium production with Al-Si-Fe from coal fly ash: Thermodynamics and experimental investigation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mining and Metallurgy. Section B: Metallurgy, 2021
Dumping or disposal of fly ash causes environmental pollution and huge waste of valuable metals. In this work, carbothermic reduction of fly ash under normal pressure to produce Al-Si-Fe alloy, and thermal reduction of magnesia to produce magnesium in ...

Cobalt Deposition from Ionothermally Dissolved Cobalt Oxides

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 16, Issue 9, May 5, 2023., 2023
The cobalt oxides CoO, Co3O4 and LiCoO2 are dissolved in the ionic liquid [Hbet][NTf2], whereupon cobalt can directly be electrodeposited. A special focus is on understanding the complex equilibria present in solution and ways to manipulate them specifically.

Strontium Extraction by Aluminothermic Reduction

open access: yesCanadian Metallurgical Quarterly, 1991
AbstractExperiments are performed in a mechanically agitated molten bath of aluminium to extract strontium from strontium carbonate by aluminothermic reduction. The molten aluminium contains additions of magnesium or bismuth. Magnesium is added to the melt for two reasons: to increase the reactivity and to lower the surface tension of the molten alloy.
