Fe‐ and Mn‐containing AlSi alloys undergo aluminothermic reaction with Mn oxide in sessile‐drop and crucible experiments forming poor‐wetting Al2O3 while Mn enriches in the alloy. Primary Fe‐containing particles are preferentially attached to the Mn oxide.

Metal losses in pyrometallurgical operations - a review
Nowadays, a higher demand on a lot of metals exists, but the quantity and purity of the ores decreases. The amount of scrap, on the other hand, increases and thus, recycling becomes more important.

Revealing salt-expedited reduction mechanism for hollow silicon microsphere formation in bi-functional halide melts [PDF]
The thermochemical reduction of silica to silicon using chemical reductants requires high temperature and has a high activation energy, which depends on the melting temperature of the reductant.

Direct Reduction of Solid V2O5 with Hydrogen at 600–1400 °C
This study examines the potential of hydrogen reduction of V2O5 powder as a method for obtaining metallic vanadium with zero carbon emissions. To this end, the samples are reduced under a range of experimental conditions, with the results supported by thermodynamic calculations and analyzed using scanning electron microscopy and X‐ray diffraction ...
