Influence of a Standard Heat Treatment on the Microstructure and Properties of Inconel X‐750 Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ni‐base superalloys produced using additive manufacturing (AM) have a different response to heat treatments when compared to their conventional counterparts. Due to such unpredictability, various alloys with industrial interest are currently overlooked in most prior AM research.

Phosphorus Immobilization in Poultry Litter and Litter-amended soils with Aluminum, Calcium and Iron amendments [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Arkansas produces approximately one billion broilers each year. Phosphorous (P) runoff from fields receiving poultry litter is believed to be one of the primary factors affecting water quality in Northwest Arkansas.

First‐Principles Modeling of Solid Solution Softening and Hardening Effects in Al–Mg–Zr–Si Aluminum Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The role of various alloying elements in face‐centered cubic aluminum on the barrier of a Shockley partial dislocation during its motion is presented. The study aims to understand how alloying atoms such as Mg, Si, and Zr affect the energy landscape for dislocation motion, thus influencing the solid solution hardening and softening in aluminum, which ...

The Lipidic and Volatile Components of Coffee Pods and Capsules Packaged in an Alternative Multilayer Film

open access: yesFoods
Coffee pods and capsules require packaging that guarantees the optimal coffee preservation. The chemical composition of coffee can undergo quality decay phenomena during storage, especially in terms of lipidic and volatile components.

Effect of strain hardening on friction behavior of iron lubricated with benzyl structures [PDF]

open access: yes
Sliding friction experiments were conducted with iron, copper, and aluminum in contact with iron in various states of strain. The surfaces were examined in dry sliding and with various benzyl compounds applied as lubricants.

Development of Aluminum Scandium Alloys for Hydrogen Storage Valves

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Different aluminum alloy series and various aluminum‐scandium alloys with differing Sc and Zr levels are evaluated for use in hydrogen storage valve production. The alloys undergo hardness testing, optical microscopy, and tensile strength analysis, with hardening behavior studied under varying conditions.

Vapor pressure and evaporation rate of certain heat-resistant compounds in a vacuum at high temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes
The vapor pressure and evaporation rate of borides of titanium, zirconium, and chrome; and of strontium and carbides of titanium, zirconium, and chrome, molybdenum silicide; and nitrides of titanium, niobium, and tantalum in a vacuum were studied.

The Effect of Various Aluminum Compounds on Chick Performance

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1968
Abstract ALUMINUM is usually present in most types of animal diets. The phosphate supplement can be a primary contributor of this element because the aluminum content of different sources may vary from trace amounts to as much as 3.5%. Some of the other dietary ingredients also contain aluminum (Williams et al., 1942). Cox et al. (1931), Deobald and

Vacuum‐Formed Composites Based on a Polyolefin and a High Content of Biomass‐Waste Fillers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown here that by the use of a very ductile polymer matrix, it is possible to vacuum‐form products that contain up to 25% of hard biofillers with still ductile properties. The results are promising and opens up for the use of engineered biocomposites derived from industrial side‐stream biofillers in vacuum‐formed products. A strategy to increase
