Surface Coordination and Polymerization of Allyl Mercaptan Passivates the Oxidation of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that allyl mercaptan self‐assembles on the surface of copper via coordination and polymerization, forming an ultrathin polymeric passivation layer (8.06 ± 0.50 nm). The modified copper foil achieves a two‐order‐of‐magnitude anti‐corrosion performance enhancement across multi‐service environments. Abstract The oxidation of copper

Lime-natural pozzolan conservation mortars: parameters that affect reactivity and strength [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The natural pozzolans studied are commercial products and come from the volcanic islands of Milos and Kimolos, as well as North Greece mainland. The materials were characterised mineralogically and chemically by XRD and SEM/EDX respectively, while their ...

Impact of Electrolyte Concentration on Surface Properties and Electrochemical Performance of Aluminum Anodes in Aluminum‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study explores how aluminum anodes behave in AlCl3:EMIC electrolytes. Acidic conditions enhance performance but cause more surface damage, while basic ones trigger localized cracking. Cycling alters the native oxide into amorphous aluminum oxide, affecting reactivity.
