Effects of Magnesium Catalyst on the Nitridation of Aluminum Melt in the Synthesis of Aluminum Nitride Powder

open access: yesApplied Microscopy, 2014
Aluminum nitride (AlN) powder was easily synthesized by the direct nitridation of Al melt containing ~20 wt.% Mg catalyst and the nitriding behavior was investigated by thermodynamic calculation and through observations of electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction.

Aluminum Oxynitride‐Engineered Transparent Aluminum Nitride Resistive Memory for Low‐Leakage Multilevel Switching in Micro‐LED Pixels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An AlON interfacial layer is engineered within an AlN switching layer to enable transparent RRAM with four stable resistance states. The device achieves low‐voltage multilevel switching and a high HRS, allowing precise grayscale modulation and preventing light leakage in micro‐LEDs operated at VDD = 2.7 V.

Aluminum nitride films synthesized by dual ion beam sputtering

open access: yes, 2014
Aluminum nitride films were deposited by varying the voltages of argon ion beams from 400 to 1200 V in dual ion beam sputtering. The crystal structure, microstructure, and elemental distributions of the aluminum nitride films were analyzed by x-ray ...

Oxidation of Aluminum Nitride for Defect Characterization

open access: yes, 2005
The thermal oxidation of aluminum nitride was developed as a means to study defects in bulk aluminum nitride crystals. The oxidation kinetics was established for the dry oxidation of highly textured AlN polycrystals produced by sublimation-recombination ...

Spacer‐Less Substrate‐Integrated Metasurface for Near‐Unity Terahertz Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Although conventional metal‐insulator‐metal (MIM) terahertz (THz) absorbers can provide near‐unity absorption, their multilayer stacks inevitably introduce additional thickness, mass, and residual stress, which limit their compatibility with THz thermal sensing platforms.

Structure, Phase Composition, and Mechanical Properties of ZK51A Alloy with AlN Nanoparticles after Heat Treatment

open access: yesMetals
The paper studies the influence of the content of aluminum nitride nanoparticles on the structure and mechanical properties of the ZK51A magnesium alloy. The microstructure investigations with optical and electron microscopy show that 1 wt.% AlN promotes

When Cubic is Not Isotropic: Phonon–Exciton Decoupling in CuInSnS4 Single Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A cubic CuInSnS4 crystal does not fully play by cubic rules. While phonons follow the average iso‐tropic lattice symmetry, the disorder‐localized excitons break away, showing strong, and reproduci‐ble polarization‐dependent emission. This work shows how intrinsic cation disorder can turn a mac‐roscopically cubic material into a source of hidden ...
