Influence of stoichiometry of aluminum nitride films composition on the dielectric response

open access: yesФизико-химические аспекты изучения кластеров, наноструктур и наноматериалов
The effect of non-stoichiometry of thin single-crystal layers of aluminum nitride (AlN) on their structure and dielectric properties was investigated. Thin AlN layers were grown by chloride-hydride epitaxy on a silicon substrate with a nanoscale buffer ...

Thin film thermocouples for high temperature measurement on ceramic materials [PDF]

open access: yes
Thin film thermocouples have been developed for use on metal parts in jet engines to 1000 C. However, advanced propulsion systems are being developed that will use ceramic materials and reach higher temperatures.

Impedance‐Matched High‐Overtone Thickness‐Shear Bulk Acoustic Resonators With Scalable Mode Volume

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bottom‐electrode‐free high‐overtone bulk acoustic resonator is achieved by lateral excitation of antisymmetric thickness‐shear modes on a lithium‐niobate‐on‐silicon platform. Planar electrode geometry eliminates conventional loading along the resonance path and confines acoustic energy within the electrode gap.

Fabrication of Densely Packed AlN Nanowires by a Chemical Conversion of Al2O3Nanowires Based on Porous Anodic Alumina Film

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2009
Porous alumina film on aluminum with gel-like pore wall was prepared by a two-step anodization of aluminum, and the corresponding gel-like porous film was etched in diluted NaOH solution to produce alumina nanowires in the form of densely packed ...

A Universal Approach to Enhancing Silicon Hot‐Carrier Photodetectors for CMOS‐Compatible SWIR Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Silicon hot‐carrier photodetectors offer a CMOS‐compatible pathway for SWIR detection but suffer from intrinsically low quantum efficiency. Here, we introduce a quasi‐generalized antireflection coating (QARC) that universally enhances optical absorption and quantum efficiency, enabling the first CMOS‐compatible SWIR imaging with silicon hot‐carrier ...

Predicting and Rationalizing Piezoelectricity in Racemic Bioorganic Molecular Crystals

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Racemic molecular crystals, composed of equal mixtures of chiral enantiomeric components, are predicted to exhibit significant piezoelectric responses and favourable mechanical flexibility. This study identifies organic and bioorganic racemates as promising candidates for sustainable, lead‐free materials, enabling next‐generation applications in energy
