The formation of nanosheets of aluminum oxyhydroxides from electroexposive nanopowders

Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2010
Products formed at various stages of the hydrolysis of aluminum nanopowder prepared by electrical explosion in the atmosphere of nitrogen were isolated and characterized. Particles formed in hydrolysis were shown to have the morphology of nanosheets 5–10 nm thick agglomerated into 0.5–3.0 μm volume structures.

Chiral-Structured Aluminum Oxyhydroxide Nanoadjuvants for Prophylactic Vaccines

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces
The chirality of biomaterials plays a critical role in biological interactions, such as cellular uptake, receptor binding, and immune activation. Despite the widespread use of aluminum-based adjuvants in vaccines and significant advances in optimizing their physicochemical properties, the impact of chirality on immunological performance remains poorly ...

Influence of Inorganic and Organic Ligands on the Formation of Aluminum Hydroxides and Oxyhydroxides

Clays and Clay Minerals, 1985
Abstract Hydroxide and oxyhydroxide products of aluminum were formed at room temperature at an initial Al concentration of 2 × 10 -3 M, pH 8.2, and at varying concentrations of organic and inorganic ligands commonly found in nature.

Influence of Polymeric Aluminum Oxyhydroxide Precipitate-Aggregation on Flocculation Performance

Environmental Engineering Science, 2013
Abstract Polyaluminum chloride (PACl) is a commonly used coagulant for water treatment. One mode of action of PACl \documentclass{aastex}\usepackage{amsbsy}\usepackage{amsfonts}\usepackage{amssymb}\usepackage{bm}\usepackage{mathrsfs}\usepackage{pifont}\usepackage{stmaryrd}\usepackage{textcomp}\usepackage{portland, xspace}\usepackage{amsmath, amsxtra ...

Study of the properties of nanostructured aluminum oxyhydroxide in the terahertz frequency range

Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics, 2012
Using the method of pulsed terahertz spectroscopy, we study the absorption and refraction spectra of nanostructured aluminum oxyhydroxides and oxides and their chemical modifications by silicon oxide. The obtained experimental results were used in the Bruggeman model of effective medium approximation for calculating the absorption and refraction ...

Structure and texture of oxyhydroxides formed by oxidation of nanodispersed aluminum with water

Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry, 2008
Aluminum oxyhydroxides were prepared by oxidation with water (55°C) of nanodispersed aluminum powders obtained by electric explosion of conductors in argon, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and their mixtures. The structure and texture of aluminum oxyhydroxides were studied using methods of thermal desorption of nitrogen, derivatography, electron microscopy ...

Radiolytic hydrogen generation from aluminum oxyhydroxide solids: theory and experiment

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2014
Exploratory work on gamma exposure to dried solids with chemically-bound water that are typical of those produced on aluminum-clad nuclear fuel in reactor and post-discharge storage has shown a profound production of hydrogen (as the sole gaseous species) from dry boehmite (γ-AlOOH or Al2O3·H2O) powders and barely observable hydrogen from dry gibbsite (

Aluminum Oxyhydroxides Formed by the Reaction of Methyl Esters with Sodium Aluminate Solution

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1978
Properties of the aluminum oxyhydroxide formed by the reaction of methyl acetate on solutions of sodium aluminate are examined. The solid has a high specific surface and gives an X‐ray diffraction pattern different from those of other known oxyhydroxides.

Microbially catalyzed dissolution of iron and aluminum oxyhydroxide mineral surface coatings

Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 1997
Abstract This experimental study investigated the processes by which microbes interact with oxyhydroxide mineral surface coatings using an approach designed to better represent the conditions of natural subsurface environments. The interactions of Shewanella putrefaciens, a facultative anaerobe capable of dissimilatory iron reduction, with coatings ...

Enhancing the Light‐Induced Actuation of Nickel Oxyhydroxide by Aluminum Doping

Advanced Materials Technologies
Abstract Material‐based actuators for developing miniature robotic systems is an emerging field of interest. Transition metal oxides/hydroxides (TMOs) are introduced for light‐induced actuation based on their effective photothermal mechanism of water deintercalation from their turbostratic crystal structures.
