Hierarchical Interfacial Engineering of Boehmite‐Coated Separators via Silane Functionalization and Electron‐Beam Irradiation

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A hierarchically reinforced ceramic–coated separator is developed by integrating APTES‐functionalized boehmite nanoparticles with EB‐induced radical formation and subsequent coupling. This synergistic interface engineering enables significantly improved mechanical integrity and interfacial stability.

Cyanogenic Compounds, Physicochemical Parameters and Metals in Water From Cassava Processing Areas: A Study in the Brazilian Amazon, Using Multivariate Analysis

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the water quality of artesian wells and effluents generated in cassava processing in a rural area of Bragança, Pará, with emphasis on physicochemical parameters, multielement composition, and cyanogenic compounds. The well water presented specific nonconformities, highlighting pH values below the recommended level and high

The Corrosion Behaviour of Aluminum Alloy 2024 - T3 in Acidic Environments

open access: yesThe Annals of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati. Fascicle IX, Metallurgy and Materials Science, 2012
This research aimed at analysing the acidic corrosion behavior of aluminum alloy 2024-T3 commonly used in the aerospace. We study the variation of corrosion rate with immersion time at different values of H2SO4 concentration and corrosion rate variation ...

Assessment of Metal Contamination and Human Health Risk in the Buffalo River Estuary, Eastern Cape, South Africa

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Metal contamination in estuarine environments poses environmental and public health concerns, particularly where surface waters support domestic and subsistence uses. This study assessed the seasonal distribution, controlling mechanisms, and non‐carcinogenic health risks of selected metals (Mg, Al, Ba, Fe, Mn, and Zn) in the Buffalo River ...

Transformations in aluminum oxyhydroxide under powerful short-pulse microwave radiation

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract Modification of a material based on Al oxyhydroxide (boehmite/γ-Al2O3) with metal Al fragments (nanoparticles, clusters) has been achieved by the treatment of the material under powerful short-pulse microwave radiation (pulse duration 20 ns, pulse repetition 25 Hz, power density 8 kW/cm2, frequency 2.85 GHz, amplitude of the ...

Beach Gold and Heavy Mineral Concentrates on Tiwai Spit Gravel Strand Plain, Southland, New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 3, September 2026.
The Holocene Tiwai Spit on Foveaux Strait is a 12 km by 2 km gravel‐dominated strand plain, ∼10 m above present sea level. Gravel clasts are dominated by well‐rounded quartz cobbles, pebbles and granules derived from Otago Schist 200 km to the north in evolving river drainage systems during late Cenozoic.

Recent Development in Solar‐to‐Hydrogen Conversion Systems

open access: yesWIREs Energy and Environment, Volume 15, Issue 3, September 2026.
This review compares three solar‐driven hydrogen production methods, photocatalysis (PC), photoelectrochemical cells (PEC), and photovoltaic–electrochemical (PV–EC) systems by examining their mechanisms, materials, stability, and efficiency. Nanocrystal‐based PC catalysts achieved the highest quantum efficiency (94%), while PV–EC and Si nanowire PEC ...

Iron Isotopes Reveal Fe Export Driven by Change of Tropical Weathering Regime

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 16, 28 August 2026.
Abstract Unraveling paleoenvironmental signals recorded in laterites is crucial for quantifying weathering‐driven elemental fluxes at the Earth's surface. New stable iron isotope data (δ56Fe), combined with (U‐Th)/He ages in Fe‐oxides from a ferruginous duricrust from French Guiana, reveal the response of Fe hosted in laterite to past changes in ...

Active Corrosion Protection of Sintered AA7075 Aluminum Alloy via Mn Powder Addition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 16, 19 August 2026.
AA7075 containing Mn‐rich particles is fabricated via spark plasma sintering using AA7075 and Mn powders. Corrosion resistance is evaluated through dip‐and‐dry tests using 0.1 M NaCl (pH 6.0), and mass loss decreases with increasing Mn addition. Mn‐rich particles function as a source of Mn ions, and formation of Mn‐accumulation films on Cu‐containing ...

V2CTx MXene as a Sacrificial Promoter for NiFe Catalyst for Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 44, 7 August 2026.
These findings demonstrate that V2CTx functions beyond passive conductive support as an active electronic participant whose structural legacy sustains durable performance even after vanadium leaching in Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) Electrolysers. ABSTRACT Nickel‐iron layered double hydroxides (NiFe‐LDH) show excellent activity, their poor conductivity
