Mechanical Properties of Pristine and Defective Carbon-Phosphide Monolayers: A Density Functional Tight-Binding Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Using density functional tight-binding theory, we investigated the elastic properties and deformation and failure behaviors of pristine and defective carbon-phosphide (CP) monolayers subjected to uniform uniaxial tensile strain along armchair (AC) and zigzag (ZZ) directions.

Fumigation of Burrowing Rodents with Carbon Monoxide: A Comparison to Alternative Management Options [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Pocket gophers and ground squirrels cause extensive damage to many crops. Pressurized exhaust injection devices are increasingly used for managing these rodents, although no data were available to support their use.

Atomic Size Misfit for Electrocatalytic Small Molecule Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores the application and mechanisms of atomic size misfit in catalysis for small molecule activation, focusing on how structural defects and electronic properties can effectively lower the energy barriers of chemical bonds in molecules like H2O, CO2, and N2.

State‐of‐the‐Art, Insights, and Perspectives for MOFs‐Nanocomposites and MOF‐Derived (Nano)Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Different approaches to MOF‐NP composite formation, such as ship‐in‐a‐bottle, bottle‐around‐the‐ship and in situ one‐step synthesis, are used. Owing to synergistic effects, the advantageous features of the components of the composites are beneficially combined, and their individual drawbacks are mitigated.

Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis of boron phosphide [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Superhard Materials, 35 [6] 415-417 (2013), 2014
A new method of producing boron phosphide (BP) submicron powders by self-propagating high-temperature reaction between boron phosphate and magnesium in the presence of an inert diluent (sodium chloride) has been proposed. Bulk polycrystalline BP with microhardness of HV = 28(2) GPa has been prepared by sintering the above powders at 7.7 GPa and 2600 K.

400%/W second harmonic conversion efficiency in $\mathrm{14 \mu m}$-diameter gallium phosphide-on-oxide resonators

open access: yes, 2018
Second harmonic conversion from 1550~nm to 775~nm with an efficiency of 400% W$^{-1}$ is demonstrated in a gallium phosphide (GaP) on oxide integrated photonic platform. The platform consists of doubly-resonant, phase-matched ring resonators with quality

Pattern and predictors of death from aluminum and zinc phosphide poisoning using multi-kernel optimized relevance vector machine

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The use of metal phosphides, particularly aluminum phosphide, poses a significant threat to human safety and results in high mortality rates. This study aimed to determine mortality patterns and predictive factors for acute zinc and aluminum phosphide ...

On melting of boron phosphide under pressure [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Superhard Materials, 37 [6] 438-439 (2015), 2015
Melting of cubic boron phosphide, BP has been studied at pressures to 9 GPa using synchrotron X-ray diffraction and electrical resistivity measurements. It has been found that above 2.6 GPa BP melts congruently, and the melting curve exhibits negative slope -60(7) K/GPa, which is indicative of a higher density of the melt as compared to the solid phase.

Cavity optomechanics in gallium phosphide microdisks

open access: yes, 2014
We demonstrate gallium phosphide (GaP) microdisk optical cavities with intrinsic quality factors $ > 2.8\times10^{5}$ and mode volumes $< 10 (\lambda/n)^3$, and study their nonlinear and optomechanical properties.
