The development of hardness homogeneity in pure aluminum and aluminum alloy disks processed by high-pressure torsion

open access: yes, 2011
Processing by high-pressure torsion was conducted on four different materials: high-purity (99.99%) aluminum, commercial purity (99.5%) aluminum, an Al-1% Mg solid solution alloy and a commercial aluminum Al-6061 alloy.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Aluminum Oxide-aluminum Stacks for Contact Passivation in Silicon Solar Cells

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate passivation of the aluminum-silicon interface by thin aluminum oxide (Al2O3) layers grown by thermal atomic layer deposition (ALD) on HF-last silicon surfaces.

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Phosphorus sorption, accumulation and leaching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Arable land is a major diffuse source of P loads to surface waters. The main processes for P losses from agricultural fields are erosion, surface runoff and subsurface leaching.

Radiation-enhanced outdiffusion of xenon implanted in aluminum.

open access: yes, 1977
Entrapment of 10-160-keV xenon implanted under UHV conditions in polycrystalline aluminum has been investigated by Rutherford backscattering. The saturation xenon distributions were found to be strongly affected by radiation-enhanced outdiffusion ...

Oxygen‐Tunnel Indium Tin Oxide Vertical Channel Transistors with Enhanced Current Density and Reliability for Monolithic 3D Compute‐In‐Memory Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxygen‐tunnel (OT) indium tin oxide (ITO) vertical channel transistors (VCTs) enable reliable, high‐density gain‐cell memory for monolithic 3D integration. A sandwiched SiN/SiO2/SiN OT stack selectively regulates oxygen transport, suppressing parasitic electrode oxidation while stabilizing channel oxygen vacancies, thereby suppressing carrier injection

Omnipolar Magnetic Field Detection by Superlattice‐Based Hall Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic‐field‐induced electronic switching is demonstrated in unit‐cell‐engineered La0.7Sr0.3MnO3–BiFeO3 superlattices. Distinct substrate terminations modify magnetic and transport properties. Hall resistance measurements show omnipolar, hysteretic anomalous Hall switching above the Curie temperature, arising from Fe─Mn interfacial exchange, enabling

MICROSTRUCTURES, MECHANICAL PROPERTIES INGOT AlSi7Fe1 AFTER BLOWING OXYGEN THROUGH MELT

open access: yesActa Metallurgica Slovaca, 2017
The new technology of producing ingot of AlSi7Fe1 high-strength is described. This new technology consists in saturation of melt with hydrogen, with further blowing with oxygen.
