New insights into the dust formation of oxygen-rich AGB stars [PDF]
We observed the AGB stars S Ori, GX Mon and R Cnc with the MIDI instrument at the VLTI. We compared the data to radiative transfer models of the dust shells, where the central stellar intensity profiles were described by dust-free dynamic model atmospheres. We used Al2O3 and warm silicate grains.

Mineral Processing by Short Circuits in Protoplanetary Disks [PDF]
Meteoritic chondrules were formed in the early solar system by brief heating of silicate dust to melting temperatures. Some highly refractory grains (Type B calcium-aluminum-rich inclusions, CAIs) also show signs of transient heating. A similar process may occur in other protoplanetary disks, as evidenced by observations of spectra characteristic of ...

THE ALUMINA-SILICATES IN STABILIZATION PROCESSES IN FLUIDIZED-BED ASH [PDF]
Presented study of coal fluidized-bed ash solidification was accompanied with specific studies of alumino-silicates residues in ashes. The specific technology of fluid coal burning and its relatively low temperature combustion combines coal burning and ...

Aluminum incorporation into magnesium silicate hydrate (M-S-H) [PDF]
Abstract The incorporation of aluminum in magnesium silicate hydrate (M-S-H) phases was investigated. Magnesium (alumino) silicate hydrate (M-(A-)S-H) with Mg/Si ratios equal to 1.1 or 1.7 and Al/Si ranging from 0 to 0.2 were synthetized in batch experiments and equilibrated at 20, 50 and 70 °C. pH values between 9 and 10.5 were observed and aluminum

Dusty wind of W Hya. Multi-wavelength modelling of the present-day and recent mass-loss [PDF]
Low- and intermediate-mass stars go through a period of intense mass-loss at the end of their lives in a phase known as the asymptotic giant branch (AGB). During the AGB a significant fraction of their initial mass is expelled in a stellar wind.

Zeolite-based photocatalysts immobilized on aluminum support by plasma electrolytic oxidation [PDF]
The preparation and properties of zeolite-containing oxide coatings obtained by plasma electrolytic oxidation are investigated and discussed. Pure and Ce-exchanged natural (clinoptilolite) and synthetic (13X) zeolites are immobilized on aluminum support from silicate-based electrolyte.
