CALCIUM CARBIDE: AN EFFICIENT ALTERNATIVE TO THE USE OF ALUMINUM [PDF]

open access: yesTecnologia em Metalurgia, Materiais e Mineração, 2013
The steel demand for fine applications have increased considerably in the last years, and the criteria for its production are even stricter, mainly in relation to the residual elements content and cleanness required. In relation to the steel cleanness,

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Comparison of Lewis Acidity between Al-MCM-41 Pure Chemicals and Al-MCM-41 Synthesized from Bentonite

open access: yesBulletin of Chemical Reaction Engineering & Catalysis, 2019
This study focused on the Lewis acidity of Al-MCM-41 prepared from bentonite (Al-MCM-bentonite) as silica and aluminum source simultaneously. This acidity was compared with Al-MCM-41 synthesized from pure chemicals reagents (Al-MCM-standard).

Replacement of silicon by aluminum with the aid of vanadium for galvanized TRIP steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
Silicon existence in conventional low carbon TRIP steel is essential for inhibiting cementite precipitation, despite that it tends to obstruct the hot-dip galvanizing process.

Effects of Al substitution on goethite formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Goethites containing up to 32.7 mole % Al were synthesized and characterized through diffractometry, spectrometry, DSC and chemical techniques. Results indicate that crystal growth was favoured or hindered depending on the percentage of aluminum ...

On the reduction of 4-oxo-4h-benzopyran-3-carbaldehydes : global and local electrophilicity patterns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The theoretical global and local electrophilicity patterns of substituted and chelated 4-oxo-4H-benzopyran-3-carbaldehydes (formylchromones) have been evaluated using the electrophilicity index proposed by Parr et al [J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1999, 121, 1922].

A Thermodynamic 3D Model for the Simulation of Diffusion‐Controlled Alloying Processes in Heterogeneous Material Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Viscosity-temperature relationships in the system Na2Si2O5-Na4Al2O5 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The viscosity-temperature relationships of five melts on the join Na2Si2O2-Na4Al2O5 (5, 10, 20, 30 and 40 mole percent Na4Al2O5) have been measured in air, at 1 atm and 1000–1350°C with a concentric cylinder viscometer.
