Alveolar bone loss in osteoporosis: a loaded and cellular affair?

open access: yesClinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dentistry, 2016
Maxillary and mandibular bone mirror skeletal bone conditions. Bone remodeling happens at endosteal surfaces where the osteoclasts and osteoblasts are situated. More surfaces means more cells and remodeling.

The effect of boron on alveolar bone loss in osteoporotic rats

open access: yesJournal of Dental Sciences, 2016
The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of systemically administered boric acid on osteoporosis-related bone alterations, alveolar bone loss, receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-b ligand (RANKL) expressions, and mandibular bone density in experimental periodontitis model in osteoporotic rats.Thirty-six male Wistar rats were separated

Transformative Bioactive Wear Resistant Ti3Au:N and Ti3Au:O Coatings for Medical Implants and Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coatings of titanium‐gold are grown in nitrogen and oxygen environments via magnetron sputtering to simultaneously enhance their biotribological and antibacterial properties. The coatings are highly crystalline with superhard scratch‐resistant surfaces and wear rates 20 times lower than the bare Ti‐6Al‐4V substrate.
