HYDROXYLAPATITE AUGMENTATION OF ATROPHIC ALVEOLAR RIDGE

1983
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the hydroxylapatite augmentation of atrophic alveolar ridge. Hydroxylapatite (HA), a highly biocompatible, osteoconductive calcium phosphate material has provided a permanent support matrix for the deposition of fibrous tissue and bone by direct chemical bonding mechanisms.

AUGMENTATION OF THE DEFICIENT ALVEOLAR RIDGE WITH HYDROXYLAPATITE

1982
A polycrystalline particulate form of hydroxylapatite, was placed subperiosteally to augment deficient alveolar ridges with minor or major resorption, to enable the patients to wear dentures successfully. 55 patients had surgery, the longest follow-up was 42 months with only 10-20% resorption terminating by 6 months postoperatively.

[Alveolar ridge augmentation with nonresorbable hydroxylapatite].

Hellenika stomatologika chronika. Hellenic stomatological annals, 1991
A two year prospective evaluation of the use of nonresorbable, hydroxylapatite to augment deficient alveolar ridges was performed. Implants were delivered subperosteally, usually using local or general anesthesia. The resultant stable, soft tissue base and improved ridge height and contour have contributed to a comfortable, retentive, stable denture ...

Alveolar ridge augmentation--a case series.

General dentistry, 2012
This study presents case reports of patients with osseous defects who were treated with autogenous bone grafts from the symphysis region, alloplast grafts with barrier membrane, and the use of free gingival onlay grafts for alveolar ridge augmentation. The patients were followed for a period of six months.

Current Concepts in Alveolar Ridge Augmentation

Journal of Dental Health and Oral Research
Ridge augmentation is a predictable procedure that can correct the defects caused by bone loss in areas with missing teeth. More importantly, this procedure allows the chance to return the natural contours of the soft tissues that existed before the loss of the tooth.
