First record and a new species of Alvinocaris Williams & Chace, 1982 (Crustacea: Decapoda: Caridea: Alvinocarididae) from the Indian Ocean

open access: bronzeZootaxa, 2014
A new species of the alvinocaridid shrimp genus Alvinocaris Williams & Chace, 1982 is described from the Solitaire hydrothermal vent field at 2606 m depth on the Central Indian Ridge. Alvinocaris solitaire sp. nov., the first species of the genus to be recorded from the Indian Ocean, is morphologically most similar to A. lusca Williams & Chace,

Day-night activity rhythm of the cold seep shrimp Alvinocaris stactophila (Caridea: Alvinocarididae) from the Gulf of Mexico [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, 2007
The activity rhythm of the cold seep shrimp Alvinocaris stactophila from the Gulf of Mexico slope (650 m depth) was investigated in the laboratory in relation to an artificial 12 h light-dark regime. Animals were sampled with a submersible and transferred into individual aquaria where their activity was monitored for 5 d by taking digital video ...

Is It First the Egg or the Shrimp? – Diversity and Variation in Microbial Communities Colonizing Broods of the Vent Shrimp Rimicaris exoculata During Embryonic Development

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Rimicaris exoculata is one of the most well-known and emblematic species of endemic vent fauna. Like many other species from these ecosystems, Rimicaris shrimps host important communities of chemosynthetic bacteria living in symbiosis with their host ...

A revision of the genusAlvinocarisWilliams and Chace (Crustacea: Decapoda: Caridea: Alvinocarididae), with descriptions of a new genus and a new species ofAlvinocaris [PDF]

open access: greenJournal of Natural History, 2005
The caridean shrimp genus Alvinocaris Williams and Chace, 1982 (Bresilioidea: Alvinocarididae) is revised based upon type material and newly obtained samples from various reducing environments of the deep‐sea floor of the world. All species are known from chemosynthetic communities associated with hydrothermal vents, brine or cold seeps.

A new species of Alvinocaris (Crustacea: Decapoda: Caridea: Alvinocarididae) and a new record of A. muricola from methane seeps on the Blake Ridge Diapir, Northwestern Atlantic

open access: greenZootaxa, 2005
Two species of the alvinocaridid shrimp genus Alvinocaris, A. methanophila n. sp. and A. muricola Williams, are reported from a cold seep site on the Blake Ridge Diapir, northwestern Atlantic, at a depth of 2155 m. Alvinocaris methanophila is described and illustrated on the basis of 33 adult specimens.
