A Critical Response to the UK's ‘Sullivan Review’ Into Sex and Gender in Research and Data

open access: yesTransactions of the Institute of British Geographers, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This intervention argues that the UK Government‐commissioned independent review of data, statistics and research on sex and gender (the ‘Sullivan Review’) implicitly promotes the erasure of trans and gender diverse people from research and data collection protocols and carries worrying implications for the inclusion of trans people within UK ...

Irreversible Transitions of the Ocean Circulation in Antarctic Ice‐Shelf Cavities

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
Abstract Ice shelves fringing the Antarctic continent experience low or high basal melt rates depending on local shelf conditions, ocean circulation and intensity of ice‐sea‐air exchanges. Recent studies have uncovered potential cold‐to‐warm transitions in specific ice‐shelf cavities, which could lead to a dramatic increase in sea‐level rise.

Fehl und Fahnen Zur Hermeneutik der Übersetzung am Beispiel Friedrich Hölderlins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Translations are hermeneutic acts whose procedures are historically determined. They pertain to the intercultural appropriation process of foreign knowledge and ideas. The translation of Hölderlin’s poems sheds a new light on the written text, it enables

Antarctic Meltwater Accelerates Southern Ocean Evolution Under Projected Atmospheric Warming

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
Abstract Increasing basal meltwater from Antarctic ice shelves may impact the Southern Ocean properties that feed back on the rate of melting. We investigate this feedback in a high‐emissions scenario using an Earth‐system model with interactive ice‐shelf basal melting, an improvement on previous studies that did not have the capability to evolve melt ...

Coupled Climate‐Ice‐Sheet Simulations Reveal Novel Teleconnection Between Northern Hemisphere Ice Sheets and the Antarctic Ice Sheet

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 1, 16 January 2026.
Abstract Coupled climate‐ice‐sheet modeling is still in its developing stage, and feedback processes between ice sheets and climate are still not yet fully understood. Here, we use simulations with a coupled climate‐ice‐sheet model to investigate teleconnections between Northern Hemispheric ice sheets and the Antarctic ice sheet (AIS) without direct ...

Future Atmospheric Rivers in Antarctica: Characteristics and Impacts With the IPSL Model

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 1, 16 January 2026.
Abstract Atmospheric rivers (ARs) are narrow corridors of intense water vapor transport that have significant impacts on the Antarctic surface mass balance (SMB) through both snow accumulation and surface melt due to rain and heat. To estimate their impacts on future SMB, we study Antarctic ARs in an ensemble of 21st‐century simulations of the IPSL‐CM6

Three Drivers of 21st‐Century Changes in Ocean Tides

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Numerical model simulations are conducted to study the response of barotropic ocean tides to 21st‐century climate change, as manifested by sea level rise, increasing ocean stratification, and expanding Antarctic ice shelf cavities. Emphasis is placed on surface elevations, with projections of M2 ${\mathrm{M}}_{2}$, S2 ${\mathrm{S}}_{2}$, K1 ${\
