Randomized preclinical study of machine perfusion in vascularized composite allografts

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
This study was designed to identify the optimum machine perfusion parameters for preservation of limbs before transplantation, and determine whether this was better than cold storage. Normothermic machine perfusion at a pressure of 70 mmHg (NMP‐70) provided superior preservation to cold storage after transplantation.

Investigation of adding fluoroapatite nanoparticles on compressive strength and corrosion behaviour of dental amalgams [PDF]

open access: yesProcessing and Application of Ceramics, 2012
In recent years, there have been many efforts to improve biological and biocompatibility features of amalgam. The aim of this research was investigating the effect of adding fluoroapatite (FA) nanoparticles on compressive strength and corrosion behaviour

Cognitive function among sons of women who worked in dentistry

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Work, Environment & Health, 2012
OBJECTIVE: Exposure to elemental mercury vapor can impair neurological function as it is neurotoxic in doses higher than usually found in dentistry. Little is known about the potential effects of fetal exposure to elemental mercury among offspring of ...

The amalgamation of automata

open access: yesJournal of Computer and System Sciences, 1977
By introducing the concept of the amalgamation of automata, we discuss their structure and classification in terms of characteristic semigroups, when the input is a free semigroup generated by a set of input symbols. We demonstrate in this paper a direct product decomposability of automata, and discuss the hierarchy of automata which is characterized ...

Boundedness of Pseudodifferential Operators with symbols in Wiener amalgam spaces on Modulation Spaces

open access: yes, 2017
This paper provides sufficient conditions for the boundedness of Weyl operators on modulation spaces. The Weyl symbols belong to Wiener amalgam spaces, or generalized modulation spaces, as recently renamed by their inventor Hans Feichtinger.

Pengaruh Penambahan Paladium Terhadap Perilaku Thermal Amalgam Tembaga Tinggi Tipe Lathe Cut

open access: yesJournal of Dentistry Indonesia, 2015
Effects of additing 1 percent (w/o) palladium (Pd) on the thermal behavior of a lathe cut type high copper amalgam (13 w/o copper) were studied. The identical alloys, with and without 1% Pd were fabricated.

Pathway to mercury-free dentistry: an insight into past, present, and future

open access: yesEuropean Oral Research, 2023
PurposeThe popularity of dental amalgam arises from its excellent long-term performance, ease of use, and low cost. However, there is a concern about the potential adverse health effects arising from exposure to mercury in amalgam.

Matrix: a complex amalgam of structures and functions in tumor microenvironment

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The matrix is a dynamic, intricate three‐dimensional mesh of biomolecules with both structural and functional properties. This review deals with the complexity of this ‘molecular amalgam’ in the tumor microenvironment and highlights its importance in the maintenance and evolution of tumors by describing certain matrix biomolecules, such as ...
