Whole genome shotgun phylogenomics resolve the diving beetle tree of life

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, EarlyView.
A new and strongly supported phylogeny of diving beetles (Dytiscidae) is presented using the largest genomic dataset to date. Laccophilinae and Coptotominae + Lancetinae are early diverging lineages excluded from a large monophyletic clade comprising the remaining eight subfamilies. We identify seven remaining problems in the backbone of the phylogeny,

Urban political ecologies of sewage surveillance: Creating vital and valuable public health data from wastewater

open access: yesTransactions of the Institute of British Geographers, EarlyView.
Abstract With the outbreak of COVID‐19, wastewater surveillance for public health rapidly emerged and expanded globally. In this article we chart the variegated ecosystem of private firms that work closely with public and non‐profit entities to transform metabolic flows of sewage into vital and valuable bioinformation, thereby creating new multi ...

Physiology of nitrogen: A life or death matter

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract With each breath, four out of every five molecules we inspire are nitrogen (N2), since this gas constitutes ∼80% of the atmospheric air that surrounds us. Despite its abundance and unlike molecular oxygen, N2 has traditionally held less appeal among physiologists given its lack of reactivity and corresponding inability to support combustion or

Miscanthus × giganteus increases soil maximum water holding capacity compared to maize

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 3, September 2025.
Abstract Soil ecosystem services, like the ability to store water, have been depleted after a century of conventional, annual cropping, and perennial crops offer a solution to this and other agricultural environmental issues. We assessed the impact of Miscanthus × giganteus (miscanthus), a perennial biomass crop, on soil water holding capacity and ...

Digital Capabilities and Supply Chain Resilience: Is Supply Chain Mapping the Missing Link?

open access: yesBusiness Strategy &Development, Volume 8, Issue 3, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Despite growing awareness of digital capabilities are crucial to supply chain resilience (SCR), but the understanding of how these capabilities enhance SCR remains limited. Prior research has provided the empirical evidence on the role of supply chain mapping (SCMAP) in enhancing SCR.
