Frog Diversity in Central Amazonian Macrophyte Beds: The Role of Local Environmental Gradients

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Ecological assemblages can be shaped by neutral, niche‐based processes, or a combination of both. Understanding the influence of these processes and evaluating diversity measures based on taxonomic, functional, and phylogenetic metrics on the structure of ecological assemblages can show patterns and unravel community assembly mechanisms ...

Study on the population structure of the paradoxical frog, Pseudis bolbodactyla (Amphibia: Anura: Hylidae), using natural markings for individual identification

open access: yesZoologia (Curitiba), 2013
The goal of this study was to assess the population structure of Pseudis bolbodactyla Lutz, 1925 using natural markings to identify individuals. Recruitment, survival, and population size estimations were obtained using the Jolly-Seber stochastic method.

The preference for energetic resources is positively associated with predatory activity in ants

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 50, Issue 5, Page 921-932, October 2025.
We found that ants exhibit a stronger preference for foraging for carbohydrates and lipids (energetic nutrients) compared to amino acids. The increase in foraging for energetic nutrients compared to amino acids is positively correlated with foraging in larvae (insect predation). The nutrient preference between foraging for energetic nutrients and amino

Limited evidence of biodiversity spillover from forest fragments into oil palm plantations in the Amazon

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 8, Page 1939-1952, August 2025.
Converting primary forest into oil palm plantations results in substantial biodiversity losses, highlighting the urgent need to preserve the few remaining large forest fragments in the area. Measures that enhance matrix permeability are essential to conserving the evolutionary and functional integrity of Amazonian landscapes and mitigating the negative

Mapping ecological corridors in the Upper Paraguay River Basin, Brazil: Applications for sustainability, public policy and decision‐making

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2025.
We identified and mapped ecological corridors on a regional scale for the entire upper paragauai basin, which is one of the largest basins in Brazil. Our results were an extensive network of corridors across the basin, as well as identifying areas for better connectivity.

Filling Gap and Geographic Distribution Map of Elachistocleis helianneae Caramaschi, 2010 (Amphibia: Anura: Microhylidae)

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT The genus Elachistocleis comprises fossorial frogs distributed throughout Central and South America. Despite their wide distribution, species such as Elachistocleis helianneae Caramaschi, 2010 (Anura: Microhylidae) are poorly documented due to their cryptic behaviour. Here, we present the first record of E. helianneae for the western region of
