ABSTRACT The visit to Bogotá of a fééeneminaa (Muinane) friend, Célimo Nejedeka Jifichíu, and in particular, his work in researching and transmitting traditional health knowledge, offer the pretext to navigate the relationship between elements that at first glance seem distant from each other: indigenous imaginaries about otherness, their visions of ...

Summary Tropical peatlands are critical for climate mitigation due to their dual role as major carbon sinks and methane sources. In rainforests, high and stable rainfall supports peat accumulation in tropical climates. However, groundwater‐fed peatlands in seasonally dry tropical ecosystems remain poorly understood, despite their potential importance ...

Foliar nutrient levels of native tree species from Central Amazonia. 2. Campina
Adult leaves of 14 woody species were sampled in the campina at km 62 of the road Manaus - Caracaraí. The lamina were classified as to their size and analysed for N, P, K, Ca, Mg and Na. Comparing the foliar levels of the bioelements to relevant data for

Spatiotemporal Fire Patterns and Post‐fire Forest Change in Peru (2000–2021)
ABSTRACT Fire is increasingly more frequent and severe in many tropical regions, leading to significant forest loss, diminished biodiversity, and reduced Nature's contributions to people (NCPs). In this study, we analyzed the spatiotemporal patterns of fire in Peru and its regions, focusing on: (1) burned area, (2) size, and (3) number of fires, using ...

The Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja), a top predator of Neotropical forests, faces severe threats across its range, including in the Atlantic Forest. Using 50 years of occurrence records, including nests and multiple age classes, we document the species' persistence in one of its last reproductive refuges while revealing ongoing human–wildlife conflicts ...

Host Abundance Predicts Interactive Roles in Neotropical Bat–Bat Fly Interactions
We analyzed the influence of bat functional traits on their importance as hosts in bat–bat fly networks. Our results indicate that bat abundance is the main driver for host importance in Neotropical bat–bat fly interactions. ABSTRACT Host functional traits are known to shape host‐parasite interactions across multiple taxa.

Synthetic pelagic biomass size spectra of the tropical and subtropical Atlantic
Abstract Synthetic normalized biomass size spectra (NBSS) comprising non‐synoptically sampled phytoplankton, meso‐ and macrozooplankton, and micronekton including mesopelagic fishes were explored to analyze pelagic community structure in seven regions of the tropical and the subtropical Atlantic representative of different water bodies (NE Brazil shelf,
