Correction Coefficients for Measuring the Ambient Dose Equivalent Rate of Neutrons

ANRI, 2021
Calculations of the response for the most widely used neutron dosimeters at the Russian nuclear power plant (NPP) have been performed. It is shown that in some cases it is necessary to introduce a correction for the measured value of the ambient dose equivalent rate (AEDR).

Analysis of the relationship between ambient dose, ambient dose equivalent and effective dose in operational neutron spectra

Radiation Protection Dosimetry
Abstract This study examines the relationship between ambient dose H*, ambient dose equivalent H*(10), and effective dose E for external neutron irradiation over 163 operational spectra from different workplaces. The results show that H* provides a reasonable estimate with a controlled margin, even if overestimated, to assess E compared ...

In-flight measured and predicted ambient dose equivalent and latitude differences on effective dose estimates

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2004
The results from 2 years (2001-2002) of experimental measurements of in-board radiation doses received at IBERIA commercial flights are presented. The routes studied cover the most significant destinations and provide a good estimate of the route doses as required by the new Spanish regulations on air crew radiation protection.

Variations of the ambient dose equivalent rate in the ground level air

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2003
The ambient dose equivalent rate is caused by ionizing radiation of radionuclides in the atmosphere and on the ground surface as well as by cosmic radiation. Seasonal and diurnal variations of the ambient dose equivalent rate (ADER) in the ground level air are influenced by the concentration of 222Rn daughters.

Measurement of Ambient Dose Equivalent Using a NaI(Tl) Scintillation Detector

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 1997
Ambient dose equivalent rates for terrestrial radiation fields were measured by a 3 diam. x 3 Nal(Tl) scintillation spectrometer. The factor for converting the measured pulse height spectrum of the Nal(Tl) scintillation detector to ambient dose equivalent was calculated using the response matrix of the detector. The relationship between air kerma rates

MAXIMUM LIKELIHOOD ESTIMATION USING EXPECTATION MAXIMIZATION APPLIED TO AMBIENT DOSE EQUIVALENT MEASUREMENTS

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2018
The use of spectrometric detectors for ambient dose equivalent measurements requires the development of calculation procedures to obtain the incident photon fluence spectra from the measured pulse-height spectra. In this work, the implementation of a methodology based on the maximum likelihood estimation using expectation maximization is described. The

Moderated neutron detector for accumulated ambient dose equivalent in proton therapy

2023
The Varian ProBeam compact was installed at Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Proton Center. Since 2017, the project has started at the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and after 4 years, during Covid19 pandemic, the 1st patient treatment received proton therapy on August, 2021.

Ambient dose equivalent meter for neutron dosimetry around medical accelerators

2007
A dose equivalent meter based on a recombination principle has been designed for routine measurements of ambient dose equivalent in mixed (gamma + neutrons) radiation fields outside the irradiation fields of linear medical accelerators. Two recombination chambers serve as detectors.
