Ambient Noise Levels in Nursing Homes
American Journal of Audiology, 2000Conducting hearing tests and hearing screenings in the nursing home environment can be a challenge. One issue which may affect the validity of the test results is the level of ambient noise in those facilities when a sound-treated booth is not available.

Modelling of Ambient Noise Levels in Urban Environment
2021The study conducts time-series approach for analysing one year noise monitoring data. Support vector machine (SVM) technique is used as a modelling technique for time-series approach. The noise data is trained using tenfold cross-validation to get optimum hyperparameters (γ, e, C).

Levels of ambient noise in Hong Kong
Applied Acoustics, 1987Abstract Road traffic noise is nearly always the main contributor to long-term ambient noise levels in urban areas. Noise measurements conducted outside dwellings in Hong Kong show that the background levels ( L 90 ) from road traffic are high, with half of the study population exposed to levels some 20 dB above those measured in a UK ...

Robust voice command in high ambient noise level
IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002A robust voice command recognition system for environments with high ambient noise levels was developed. The influence of noise is very important because the commands are usually used in situations like hand-free voice dialing in a car during operation, system-assisted production lines in a factory, and in airplane cockpits.

Frequency-frequency correlations of ocean ambient noise levels
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1977The correlation of ambient noise fluctuations in each of seven frequency bands at frequencies f1 with those in other bands (f2) was investigated for a 4 1/2−d period in February 1976 with a hydrophone laid on the bottom in deep water. The bandwidth was generally 6 Hz; band center frequencies ranged from 5 to l50 Hz.

Low-frequency wind-generated ambient noise source levels
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1990Measurements of ambient noise (30–800 Hz) useful in characterizing the wind-generated component have been obtained in the low ship density Southern Hemisphere. Source levels that characterize the frequency and wind speed dependence of this noise have been obtained by Burgess and Kewley using vertical noise directionality data and had been implemented ...

Shipping source level estimation for ambient noise forecasting
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012The ability to accurately estimate shipping source levels from ambient noise data is an essential step towards creating a forecast model of the ocean soundscape. Source level estimates can be obtained by solving the system of linear equations, governed by the sonar equation, that relate source level to transmission loss (TL) and beamformer response. In

Effect of Differential Levels of Ambient Noise on Vigilance Performance
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1971Research has indicated that high intensity white noise may affect performance, particularly if long-term attention is required. Ambient white noise is often used in vigilance experiments in order to mask equipment and extraneous noise and/or to provide a constant background of auditory stimulation.

Ambient noise levels and hearing screening outcomes
Hearing Balance and Communication, 2019Purpose: The current study aimed to determine the mean ambient noise levels within a risk-based newborn hearing screening (NHS) programme. It further aimed to investigate the relationship between the ambient noise levels and the screening outcome.

Reducing Compressor Station Ambient Noise Level by Controlling Compressor Internal Noise Source
4th International Pipeline Conference, Parts A and B, 2002Dresser-Rand single stage pipeline booster compressors have been popular for gas transmission applications due to their high efficiency. As more compressors are installed in natural gas compressor stations close to populated areas, the noise level emitted from the compressor stations becomes a concern. To address the potential community noise concerns,
