Historical ambient noise levels in a topographically isolated basin

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008
During the late 1970s and early 1980s, careful measurements of ambient noise were made in the Tongue of the Ocean (TOTO) in the Bahamas. The measurements were made using a vertical array of five omni-directional hydrophones moored in 2200 m water depth with an average hydrophone depth of 122 m.

Periodic Variations in Low-Frequency Underwater Ambient Noise Levels

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1960
Variations in underwater ambient noise spectra, from 20 to 1000 cps, were studied by use of a statistical filter technique to examine the spectral density functions in the range from 1 to 80 cycles per week. At frequencies below 100 cps narrow band components at 7 and 14 cycles per week were observed in the spectral density function.

Ambient Noise Levels in Audiometric Test Rooms Used for Clinical Audiometry

Ear and Hearing, 1993
Recently, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has specified (ANSI S3.1-1991) maximum permissible ambient noise levels (MPANLs) allowed in an audiometric test room that would produce negligible masking of pure tones presented down to O-dB HL for two test conditions (ears covered, ears not covered) and three test frequency ranges (125-8000 ...

Optimization of ambient seismic noise interferometry to monitor groundwater level variations.

2020
<p> In this work, we test the cross-correlation of ambient seismic noise method in monitoring underground water variations. Within this perspective we applied the abovementioned technique to study the water table changes occurring both in areas exploited for drinking water needs and inside landslides.

Assessment of indoor ambient noise level in school classrooms

2015
Previous studies have shown that poor acoustic conditions inside classrooms interfere with an optimal teaching-learning process. Since high background noise levels and long reverberation times cause higher vocal use among teachers, and lower understanding among students, it is recommended to guarantee physical conditions inside the classrooms that ...
