Silica aerogel films at ambient pressure
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1995Abstract Silica films with refractive indices in the range of 1.006 – 1.036 (equivalent porosity 98.5–91%) have been prepared at ambient pressure by a process wherein organo-siloxane polymers are deposited on a silicon substrate by conventional dip-coating at 25°C and 0.85 bar (atmospheric pressure in Albuquerque) and heating to 450°C.

Clamshell, by near-ambient pressure XPS
Surface Science Spectra, 2019Near-ambient pressure x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (NAP-XPS) is a less traditional form of XPS that allows samples to be analyzed at relatively high pressures, i.e., at greater than 2500 Pa. With NAP-XPS, XPS can probe moderately volatile liquids, biological samples, porous materials, and/or polymeric materials that outgas significantly.

Synthesis of HgBa2Ca3Cu4Oy under ambient pressure
Physica C: Superconductivity and its Applications, 1996Abstract The mercury-based oxide superconductor, HgBa 2 Ca 3 Cu 4 O y phases was synthesized by a controlled vapor/solid reaction technique using high-purity powders of HgO, BaO, CaO and CuO as starting materials. Two types of barsm, with different cation ratios of Hg:Ba:Ca:Cu=0:2:2:3 and 1:2:2:3, were heated in an evacuated quartz tube.

Fuel, 2019
Ethanol-Gasoline has been used as vehicles fuel in areas widely in world, especially in China with areas from plain to high altitude. The addition of ethanol in gasoline will change the physicochemical properties of pure fuels, and then affect the ...

Splashing liquids with ambient gas pressure
SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 Technical Briefs, 2014Splashing occurs when a liquid drop hits the solid or fluid surface at a high velocity. The drop after the impact spreads and forms a corona with a thickened rim, which first develops annular undulations and then breaks into secondary droplets. We have many chances to see splashes in our daily life, e.g., milk crown, splashing paint, and raindrops ...

Cryofixation Without Pretreatment at Ambient Pressure
1987Almost a century ago biological or medical objects were used in their frozen state in order to accelerate pathological diagnosis (immediate section) and to better maintain their chemical constitution (Altmann 1890). This alternative to chemical fixation gained in importance during the first half of this century due to the availability of liquefied air ...

Ambient pressure and single-bubble sonoluminescence
Physical Review E, 1998We present a theoretical analysis of the influence of ambient pressure on single-bubble sonoluminescence (SBSL). By combining simulations of gas dynamics, mass diffusion theory, and stability analysis we find a narrow region of the parameter space where stable SBSL is possible.
