Influence of ambient temperature on explosion characteristics of premixed gas

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2021
In order to reveal the explosive risk and the changes on explosion characteristics of premixed gas under different ambient temperatures, the explosive pressure characteristics, combustion characteristic parameters and explosive limits were tested in 20 ...

A new superconducting open-framework allotrope of silicon at ambient pressure

open access: yes, 2017
Diamond Si is a semiconductor with an indirect band gap that is the basis of modern semiconductor technology. Although many metastable forms of Si were observed using diamond anvil cells for compression and chemical precursors for synthesis, no metallic ...

A density functional study of the high-pressure chemistry of MSiN2(M = Be,Mg, Ca) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Normal pressure modifications and tentative high-pressure phases of the nitridosilicates MSiN2 with M = Be, Mg, or Ca have been thoroughly studied by density functional methods.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Influence of the ambient pressure on the liquid accumulation and on the primary spray in prefilming airblast atomization [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Multiphase Flow, 2019
The influence of the ambient pressure on the breakup process is investigated by means of PIV and shadowgraphy in the configuration of a planar prefilming airblast atomizer. Other investigated parameters are the gas velocity and the film loading.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Formation of single-phase disordered CsxFe2-ySe2 at high pressure

open access: yes, 2018
A single-phase high pressure (HP) modification of CsxFe2-ySe2 was synthesized at 11.8 GPa at ambient temperature. Structurally this polymorph is similar to the minor low pressure (LP) superconducting phase, namely they both crystallize in a ThCr2Si2-type

Adjustment of Coatings Morphology and Particle Distribution of Layered Silicates by Freeze‐Drying for Improved Gas Barriers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...

An experimental investigation on effect of ambient flow on aerodynamic performances of an external nozzle

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2016
For space plane with air-breathing engines, equipping Single Expansion Ramp Nozzle on its aft-body is beneficial for thrust augmentation. The cowl of this nozzle is truncated (thus, termed as an external nozzle), in order to reduce its weight, friction ...
