Methyltrimethoxysilane based monolithic silica aerogels via ambient pressure drying

Microporous and Mesoporous Materials, 2007
Abstract We have developed a novel route to monolithic silica aerogels via ambient pressure drying by the acid–base sol–gel polymerization of methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) precursor. An extent of silica polymerization in the alcogels plays a crucial role in obtaining the monolithic aerogels which could be optimized by a proper control over the MeOH ...

Preparation of low-density carbon aerogels by ambient pressure drying

Carbon, 2004
Abstract With the addition of hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) and alcohol as solvent, an ambient pressure drying technique was developed for the fabrication of low-density organic aerogels and related carbon aerogels. When a suitable ratio of resorcinol to HMTA (R/H ratio) and ratio of resorcinol to solvents (R/S ratio) are selected, the low-density ...

Ambient Pressure Drying of Freeze-Cast Ceramics from Aqueous Suspension

Nano Letters, 2023
Freeze-casting has been wildly exploited to construct porous ceramics but usually requires costly and demanding freeze-drying (high vacuum, size limit, and supercooled chamber), which can be avoided by the ambient pressure drying (APD) technique. However, applying APD to freeze-cast ceramic based on an aqueous suspension is still challenging due to ...

Hydrophobic Silica Aerogels by Ambient Pressure Drying

Materials Science Forum, 2015
Silica aerogels have been prepared through sol-gel process by polymerization of TEOS in the presence of NH4F and NH4OH as catalysts. The solvent present in the gel is replaced by ethanol followed by a non-polar solvent such as n-hexane prior to solvent modification step.

High surface area methyltriethoxysilane-derived aerogels by ambient pressure drying

Journal of Porous Materials, 2010
In this paper we report the synthesis of methyltriethoxysilane (MTES) based aerogels by non-supercritical/ambient pressure drying. The alcogels have been aged in different concentrations of silane precursor solutions before drying and aerogels with low density and high porosity were obtained.

Synthesis of nanoporous silica aerogel by ambient pressure drying

Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 2008
A crack-free silica aerogel monolith was fabricated from a cheap water glass derived silicic acid solution by adding glycerol, which served as a drying control chemical additive (DCCA). The OH surfaces of the wet gel with glycerol were modified using a TMCS/n-hexane mixture followed by solvent exchange from water to n-hexane.

Bronchial response to breathing dry gas at 3.7 MPa ambient pressure

European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology, 1994
In diving, pulmonary mechanical function is limited by the increased density of the gas breathed. Breathing cold and dry gas may cause an additional increase in airways resistance. We have measured forced vital capacity, forced expired volume in 1 s (FEV1) and forced midexpiratory flow rate (FEF25%-75%) before and after breathing dry or humid gas at 29-
