Ambient temperature carbon nanotube ammonia sensor on CMOS platform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We report here the development of a resistive single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) sensor, based on a CMOS substrate that responds at ambient temperature to ppm levels of ammonia.

Acute effects of ambient temperature on hypotension hospital visits: A time-series analysis in seven metropolitan cities of Korea from 2011 to 2015

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2019
Background: Although blood pressure decreases in response to high ambient temperature, little is known about whether the ambient temperature can induce clinical hypotension events.

Thermo-mechanical Coupling of Pantograph-Catenary System under Different Ambient Temperatures

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
[Objective] Under extreme ambient temperatures, issues such as excessive temperature rise and intensified contact force fluctuation readily occur in the PC (pantograph-catenary) contact zone.

Positive Association of Aggression with Ambient Temperature

open access: yesThe Yale Journal of Biology and Medicine, 2023
Background: Relatively little attention has been paid to the potential effects of rising temperatures on changes in human behavior that lead to health and social consequences, including aggression. This study investigated the association between ambient temperature and aggression using assault death data from Seoul, South Korea (1991-2020). Methods: We

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Ozone stress as a driving force of sesquiterpene emissions: a suggested parameterisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Sesquiterpenes (C15H24) are semi-volatile organic compounds emitted by vegetation and are of interest in atmospheric research because they influence the oxidative capacity of the atmosphere and contribute to the formation of secondary organic aerosols ...

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.
