MicroRNA-762 is upregulated in human corneal epithelial cells in response to tear fluid and Pseudomonas aeruginosa antigens and negatively regulates the expression of host defense genes encoding RNase7 and ST2. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Mucosal surfaces regulate defenses against infection and excessive inflammation. We previously showed that human tears upregulated epithelial expression of genes encoding RNase7 and ST2, which inhibited Pseudomonas aeruginosa invasion of human corneal ...

Nachträge zum 'Katalog der schweizerischen Spinnen'. 2. Neunachweise von 1993 bis 1999

open access: yesArachnologische Mitteilungen, 1999
Since the first supplement in 1993 38 species are recorded as new to Switzerland. 14 species are recorded here for the first time for Switzerland: Enoplognatha oelandica (Thorell, 1875); Theridion hemerobium Simon, 1914; Diplocephalus crassilobus (Simon,

Supersymmetric Scenarios with Dominant Radiative Neutralino Decay [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The radiative decay of the next-to-lightest neutralino into a lightest neutralino and a photon is analyzed in the MSSM. We find that significant regions of the supersymmetric parameter space with large radiative BR's (up to about 100%) do exist.

Epidemiological Insights Into Water and Soil‐Mediated Transmission of Tomato Mottle Mosaic Virus

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Water and growing substrate can serve as reservoirs for tomato mottle mosaic virus (ToMMV) inoculum. ToMMV can survive in water for up to 27 weeks. ToMMV infects bait plants through roots within 5–17 weeks, depending on the severity of root damage. A rapid, field‐deployable RPA test—requiring no RNA extraction—offers sensitivity comparable to RT‐qPCR ...

Purification and properties of a HeLa cell enzyme able to remove the 5'- terminal protein from poliovirus RNA [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Using a rapid phenol extraction assay, an enzyme was purified from uninfected HeLa cells that can cleave the 5'-terminal protein (VPg) from poliovirus RNA. Both cytoplasmic and nuclear extracts had enzymes with similar behavior.

Sustainable Meat Consumption: Values, Drivers, and Barriers—A Mixed‐Method Study With Post hoc Qualitative Analysis

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, Volume 34, Issue 8, Page 10513-10532, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Growing health and environmental concerns associated with traditional meat production and consumption drive the commercialization of sustainable meats (SMs) as a viable alternative. The greatest challenge to feed the growing population can be addressed with SMs that are produced, consumed, and disposed of in a manner that protects our ...
