Why Is the Mechanism Underlying the Chiral‐Induced Selectivity Effect Still Challenging?

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The chiral‐induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect is observed in many experimental configurations and for different materials. However, there are theoretical challenges in attempting to explain those results. A qualitative framework for explaining all the results is presented.

Metamaterials with multiband AMC and EBG properties

open access: yes, 2005
Complex surfaces that perform as Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) and as Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) structures in a selection of predefined frequency bands are presented. This is achieved by introducing defected (or perturbed) arrays.

Programmable Stepwise Heteroepitaxial Growth of Colloidal Crystals With Different Phases

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Stepwise heteroepitaxial growth is adapted to colloidal crystal engineering with DNA, enabling face‐centered cubic (fcc) facets to grow on body‐centered cubic (bcc) crystals with 110 facets. This approach tolerates large lattice mismatches, extending heteroepitaxy beyond the limits of conventional atomic systems.

3D Printing of Stretchable, Compressible and Conductive Porous Polyurethane for Soft Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printable porous dopamine‐polyurethane acrylate elastomer results in conductive, stretchable, and compressible structures that can be metallized in situ through catechol‐mediated silver reduction. The resulting material function as both compliant soft robot with a and strain sensors without complex assemblies, enabling fully 3D‐printed soft ...

Clinical variants of upper limbs deformities in children with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita

open access: yesTravmatologiâ i Ortopediâ Rossii, 2013
From 2004 to 2012 the authors examined and treated 207 patients with upper limb deformities due to AMC. The age of children with AMC was from 5 months till 18 years. All upper limbs deformities due to AMC were deviated into 2 groups: isolated and complex

Performance evaluation of band AMC using dynamic band selection

open access: yes, 2014
Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) is one of key technologies in 4G system. Band AMC technique enables the Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) system to achieve their maximum throughput by efficient utilization of wireless channel ...

Additive Manufacturing of Patient‐Specific Intracranial Aneurysm Cell Culture Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific intracranial aneurysm models were fabricated using chocolate moulding, 3D printed water‐soluble cores, and direct resin 3D printing. Moulding PDMS around sacrificial cores made of chocolate or 3D printed water‐soluble resin yielded accurate, expandable, and endothelializable models that outperformed resin‐based approaches.

Effect of proteasome inhibitors on Ala-AMC and Leu-AMC cleavage.

open access: yes, 2014
HEK 293T cell extract or recombinant PSAP was treated with 10 µM of each of the proteasome inhibitors for 1 hour in addition to a 30 min pre-incubation without the substrate. Enzyme activity was determined by fluorescence measurement of AMC and expressed

Making Meaningful Content When Everyone's Exhausted AMC Presentation

open access: yes, 2022
In a media-saturated pandemic world, what kind of content makes the most impact? What inspires action instead of numbs? And how do you make content that aligns with your values while navigating the nuances and trends of social media platforms?

Direct Measurement of the Singlet Lifetime and Photoexcitation Behavior of the Boron Vacancy Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Negatively charged boron vacancy defects in hexagonal boron nitride promise near‐surface quantum sensing, but their internal spin transition rates are only partly understood. This work directly measures the defect's singlet‐state lifetime, 15(3) ns, using a nanosecond rise‐time dual‐pulse photoluminescence‐recovery method, and shows that high laser ...
