Transfer learning strategies for neural networks: A case study in amine gas treating units
This work presents a framework where strategies are applied within a workflow created to enhance the accuracy and transferability of the transfer learning process. We used a case study for predicting corrosion rates in gas-treating units, employing datasets from two different amines (A and B), where the amine A dataset is large compared to the amine B ...

Abstract This work discusses the relation between flue gas particle content, mainly related to sulfuric acid aerosols and dust, and corresponding MEA emissions. The work lays grounds for future necessary pre-treatment options for various flue gases with high aerosol content in order to operate post-combustion amine plants with minimum emissions.

Study of the Application of CCUS in a WtE Italian Plant
Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) contains materials of biogenic and non-biogenic origin. When incinerated, the biogenic component produces CO2, which does not lead to an increase in atmospheric CO2 levels.

Performance Improvement of Gas Sweetening Units by Using a Blend of MDEA/PZ
This work investigates three gas sweetening units in Libya; particularly, Mellitah complex, Alestiklal, and Sahel gas plant. These units are designed mainly to use Methyl diethanolamine (MDEA) as a solvent for the removal of H2S and CO2 from the raw gas.

Computational Study of Rarefied Gas Flow and Heat Transfer in Lid-driven Cylindrical Cavities [PDF]
The gas flow characteristics in lid-driven cavities are influenced by several factors, such as cavity geometry, gas properties, and boundary conditions. In this study, the physics of heat and gas flow in cylindrical lid-driven cavities with various cross-sections, including fully or partially rounded edges, is investigated through numerical simulations

The Effect of Groove Shape on Molten Metal Flow Behaviour in Gas Metal Arc Welding [PDF]
One of the challenges for development, qualification and optimisation of arc welding processes lies in characterising the complex melt-pool behaviour which exhibits highly non-linear responses to variations of process parameters. The present work presents a simulation-based approach to describe the melt-pool behaviour in root-pass gas metal arc welding

Airborne measurements of particulate organic matter by proton-transfer-reaction mass spectrometry (PTR-MS): a pilot study [PDF]
Herein we report on the first successful airborne deployment of the CHemical Analysis of AeRosol ONline (CHARON) particle inlet which allowed us to measure the chemical composition of atmospheric submicrometer particles in real time using a state-of-the ...

A new method for reactive constant pH simulations [PDF]
We present a simulation method that allows us to calculate the titration curves for systems undergoing protonation/deprotonation reactions -- such as charged colloidal suspensions with acidic/basic surface groups, polyelectrolytes, polyampholytes, proteins, etc.
