Gas solubility of H2S and CO2 in aqueous solutions of N-methyldiethanolamine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Alkanolamine processes are used in the industry to remove acid gases, like CO2, H2S and other sulphur components, from natural gas and industrial gas streams.

Polymer Brush Growth by Surface‐Initiated Ring‐Opening Polymerization from a Cross‐Linked Polymer Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A stable cross‐linked ultra‐thin polymer coating for surface‐initiated ring‐opening polymerization (SI‐ROP) of hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane and ε‐caprolactone for growth of high grafting density poly(dimethyl siloxane) and poly(caprolactone) brushes is developed.

Techno-Economic Assessment for the Best Flexible Operation of the CO2 Removal Section by Potassium Taurate Solvent in a Coal-Fired Power Plant

open access: yesEnergies
Alternative solvents based on aqueous solutions of amino acids have been recently developed as possible substitutes for Mono Ethanol Amine (MEA) for CO2 removal from flue gas streams.

Formation, Gravitational Clustering and Interactions of Non-relativistic Solitons in an Expanding Universe [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. D 100, 063507 (2019), 2019
We investigate the formation, gravitational clustering and interactions of solitons in a self-interacting, non-relativistic scalar field in an expanding universe. Rapid formation of large number of solitons is driven by attractive self-interactions of the field, whereas the slower clustering of solitons is driven by gravitational forces.

Making Photoresponsive Metal–Organic Frameworks an Effective Class of Heterogeneous Photocatalyst

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes photoresponsive MOFs for photocatalytic applications, focusing on their capacity to enhance light harvesting, charge transfer, and surface reactions. While existing studies provide foundational insights, emerging characterization techniques enable a deeper understanding of photoresponsive MOFs.

Numerical Study of Molten Metal Melt Pool Behaviour during Conduction-mode Laser Spot Melting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Molten metal melt pools are characterised by highly non-linear responses, which are very sensitive to imposed boundary conditions. Temporal and spatial variations in the energy flux distribution are often neglected in numerical simulations of melt pool behaviour.

Ultra‐Effective Light‐Activated Antibacterial Activity via Carboxyl Functionalized Graphene Quantum Dots and Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Carboxyl‐functionalized graphene quantum dots (cGQDs) exhibit high singlet oxygen quantum yield due to strong spin–orbit coupling. cGQDs achieve minimum bactericidal concentration of only 0.4 µg mL−1 against S. aureus under low‐intensity illumination.

Bioorthogonal Engineering of Cellular Microenvironments Using Isonitrile Ligations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Highly selective chemistries are required for fabrication and post‐cross–linking modification of cell‐encapsulating hydrogels used in tissue engineering applications. Isonitrile ligation reactions represent a promising class of bioorthogonal chemistries for engineering hydrogel‐based cellular microenvironments. Isonitrile‐based hydrogels are stable and

REVAMPING OF GAS REFINERIES USING AMINE BLENDS

open access: yesInternational Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research, 2008
: The use of mixed amine system in gas treating processes is increasing today. For natural gas sweetening purposes, mixed amines are typically mixtures of MDEA and DEA or MEA that enhance CO2 removal while retaining desirable characteristics of MDEA such

Process intensification for post combustion CO₂ capture with chemical absorption: a critical review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The concentration of CO₂ in the atmosphere is increasing rapidly. CO₂ emissions may have an impact on global climate change. Effective CO₂ emission abatement strategies such as carbon capture and storage (CCS) are required to combat this trend.
