Failure of Amine Regenerating Column of Amine Treatment Unit

CORROSION 2009, 2009
Abstract This paper intends to provide a detailed description of a corrosion problem1 observed in the amine regenerating column in Amine Treatment Unit at a refinery. A leak was observed in a section of the column that had previously been repaired. Localized groove marks were observed on the internal surfaces of the column.

Modeling and optimization of ionic liquid-based carbon capture process using a thin-film unit

Computers and Chemical Engineering, 2021
Post-combustion CO 2 capture is an effective solution for reducing CO 2 emissions. Ionic liquids (ILs) have been proposed as a promising class of absorbents for CO 2 capture due to their superior physicochemical properties.

Analysis of internal cracks in Type 304 austenitic stainless steel cladding wall of regenerator column in amine treating unit

Engineering Failure Analysis, 2018
Abstract The present study aims at investigating the incidence of internal cracks in Type 304 austenitic stainless steel cladding wall of Methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) regenerator column in amine treating unit. The toxicity of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) makes it difficult to reproduce the exact service conditions in regenerator column; therefore, it was ...

Evaluation of control strategies in CO2 capture unit

31st European Symposium on Computer Aided Process Engineering, 2021
Post Combustion CO2 Capture process (PCC) is a popular technology for regulating CO2 emissions from Coal-based power generation plants. The process uses Mono Ethanol Amine (MEA) solvent to absorb CO2 from Flue gas.

Reduction of chloride in amine from gas sweetening unit using a continuous virtual countercurrent ion exchange setup

Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, 2018
In this work, continuous chloride reduction was studied using a Continuous Virtual Countercurrent Ion Exchange setup (CVCIE). With this new laboratory scale setup constructed, ion exchange process which is inherently batchwise was conducted continuously.
